Anyone know how much it would costs to have a hood open like the one in the 4th pic on Bat Lord's post about kits.???

I don't think it's racing that I'm addicted to, it must be the adrenaline rush.

It's a suicide hood. I've done it on a few rides. It consists of just moving and strengthening the hinges and reversing the lock mechanisms. You also have to drill new holes in the hood to hold the hinges, and you have to make sure everything is balanced evenly. It's not really that hard of a mod, and it can be done in a weekend. It's just a matter of reversing everything and finding an area to attach the hinges to. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

People either suicide their hoods to the side (side swinging) or they do a REAL suicide where it opens from the rear of the engine bay, and not front.

Just don't do it if you plan on spending a lot of time under your hood. Hoods that open from the front or sides make working on the engine a MAJOR PITA. My friends BMW has the style of hood that opens from the windshield forward...and working on the front of his engine is a BITCH.
