I'm sure most of you heard that I'm swapping in the 1.8 Beta motor into my 96' Accent. I know it has a 130 HP compared to my stock 92<img src=/images/forums/snitz/sleep.gif width=27 height=25 border=0> Anyway, I have no rear interior (removed) and I have two Corbeau racing seats up front (which I think weigh less than stock). Can anybody give me an honest estimate on what my car will run stock with this 1.8 cause everyone from my area knows of my little secret and I know there is gonna be a little line of **** waiting for me the day I show it.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/mad.gif width=16 height=16 border=0> So, if I'm gonna embarass myself when it's "showtime", someone please give me some info!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/cool.gif width=15 height=15 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

well, i dunno, are u Manual or auto? is the new motor manual or auto? (no offense) do you know how do drive the car well? what kind of tires/size rims? there are too many factors.

you can probably shave a good half second to second off the 1/4mile of a stock elantra. maybe even more.

Well, I would never drive an automatic (no offense to anyone). Anyway, mine is a 5 speed, I have 14" Elantra rims on it and I am very comfortable with my car; well, let's just say probably a little better than average. And Rudy, what does a stock Elantra run?

That is pretty cool. Have you seen this or just heard reports of this? That is like 2 seconds off.

Well, if you put 50hp in an Accent on top of the 92, would you end up shaving 2 seconds off?

Again what tranny are you running?

If you are running the stock tranny still then you may want to look into getting the Tib Tranny. Prefferably the one from the 1.8ltr it has shorter gears than the 2.0ltr.<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

I get my info from Paul & Bretton at HVE. These are the times they seen when they drop STOCK 2.0L Betas in the X3. They see them in the low 14's with only bolt ons(ie. I/H/E/TB). Mid 13's with cams and headwork added. They like to throw QTB set ups on them too. I think it is possible to get into the 12's N/A with a 2.2L Beta swap with ALL N/A mods. That would be my goal if I built one.

For what it would costs to do it, it would be well worth it. If you raced for money, then engine would pay for itself. Who the hell would think that an Accent that would look stock on the outside, but had that on there would keep up with a Supra?<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Sorry for taking so long AUTOBOT; I am getting the tranny that came out of the 1.8 (5 speed), because someone told be earlier that my stock 1.5 tranny won't last a week with my new motor. I'm doing the motor swap, I may as well do it right<img src=/images/forums/snitz/approve.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>Right? Wow, I knew that the 2.0 Beta would run a 15.01, but I wasn't guessing that my 1.8 would still be a little machine! Awesome!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> I should definately have this motor in by Carlisle, hopefully with a few bolt-ons. If so, I will be more than glad to put it on the dyno at Carlisle. Oh yeah, Super_gts (not really sure what your name is), are you the one who went to Carlisle last year with the supercharged Accent? Cause I remember I kept making whoever that was constantly rev the engine for me! If you are, sorry for being a little "La Pulga" <img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0> (9.99 sec. 1.5 SOHC Accent)!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/eek.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

I don't know much about The Accent but why not just put the 2.0L in???

Is there more work involved or more cost?

Answer: I found the motor for a great deal; but before I jumped the gun, I checked out all of the performance products for this engine (1.8 DOHC 16 valve-130HP), anyway, the motor is out of the years as follows: 96-98 Elantra, 97-99 Tiburon. I found a lot of stuff for this engine and I figured that the only things different between the 1.8 and 2.0 is that the internals are different, from the appearance on the outside, identical, so if I could find out which ones were altered, I could easily make mine 140HP! Right? Maybe I just have to port and polish some things<img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> So; what was a question, I somehow turned it into another question<img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>Anybody know? And as I posted on another forum, Supergt (sorry for constantly calling you the wrong name)<img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> Not trying to sound gay (no offense to anyone who really is) or anything, but I used to have a 98' Accent but it got totaled<img src=/images/forums/snitz/angry.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> I loved the car, I just didn't know exactly how much. Next Carlisle, you will see me rolling up in my 96' Accent.
