Okay, I'm sure there's a lot more that goes into than this, but here's what I've been told so far about the swap. The info isn't in any particular order, but it's here.

It is completely possible to keep the Accent ECU with the Beta motor, however, you will either need to get it piggybacked and/or reprogrammed to get the correct fuel mapping.

All the engine mounts line up other than the front mount as it is too thick. It will have to be re-manufactured with the Accent mount. Other than this, the engine will go right in and can still be tilted to allow for timing belt changes.

If you are keeping the Accent transmission, you will need the clutch out of a tranny for a 1.6L Beta motor, as it is a little stronger and still fits. You can also use parts out of an Scoupe tranny.

As for the ECU wiring, a few of the wires from the harness will need to be extended to fit, I'll try to find out which ones.

If a header is to be fitted, it is advisable to remove or relocate the air conditioner fan as it will get severly toasted by the heat of the header.

If you would like to keep the stock Accent airbox and/or air sensors, you will need to keep rubber pipe coming off the throttle body off the Beta engine and cut/fit it to the Accent pieces.

As of a week ago, the Accent was back in the shop receiving the reprogramming and a Tiburon tranny, so I'll amend this when I get word back on that.

This is taken from HP.Com's South Africa rep. I'll try to get him in here for updates. My car will be going into the shop for the swap in a few months.

This article was written by me.We have since put the tib tranny in as all the synchros packed up in a matter of minutes.I shortened the side shafts by 6mm as the car was shuddering badly. We just test drove it today.
Great ride,diced a 2.0 16valve vw,was still in front,odo was 20mm past the 200km mark.

With a battery relocate a CAi would be possible. Damn I bet that's fast! Any issue regarding the ecu used in the States vs. the one for overseas? Is there a MAF-MAP issue?

I have all the info for the piggyback ECU he used, which should be compatible with our ECUs. I'll be doing the Tib ECU though.

So how much would this swap cost, labor wise, approximately? I'm know i'm down 1500 bux for the longblock and ecu (as well as some goodies inside).

Also, i read on fxtreme that the 1.8L tranny has better gearing for racing, is this true?

Hi !
It takes the same time to do the mod as it would to change the engine/box as it would normally.Other than the new front mounting and the mod. to the side shafts. The engne runs on the std accent ecu,but not very well. But after the ecu piggy back it`s great,
Regards,

You might want to lower your price vegabass.

KORE is selling the engine/tranny/ECU with under 10K miles for $1000.
