I am about ready to put a torque wrench on my now semi crushed oil filter and snap a photo of what it goes up to. Both the drain plug and the filter are WAY over tightened I am pissed enough to take the dealer or Hyundai to small claims court for my wasted time. Yes I have changed a million filters in my lifetime but crushing a filter with a rubber whip wrench after: 1) couldn't remove with hand on non-oily service. 2) couldn't remove with hand and wrag on oily service 3) the car has less than 2000 miles on it. I am so pissed. Please share your experiences so I can print out and let the dealer no how pissed I am. I will probably have to drill through it and put a screw driver in the dam thing and hope I dont rip the housing off. Christ am I pissed! Hyundai and their ultra sceptical inforcement of wranty work when they over torque themselves

Damn, I can't say I had that problem ever on my tibby.

I would take it to the dealer for the first oil change and let them figure out how to get them off! *lol* Might be the best $30 you ever spent!

LOL I had to have Jiffy Lube pull that first filter off for me too!

remember that the factory has the engine out when they put the filter on, and there is a lot of room for extra leverage!

Exactly where do you think you have a legal case? Even if you did (which you don't) the best that you would be able to hope to sue for would be the difference it what it would cost you to have the dealership do the work. So basically you would be spending hours and hours in court (way more time than on your car) for a few $$$$ that you would never win anyways.

Sorry but CASE DISMISSED.

good luck figuring it out.

Easy court case for one day jaunt in small claims. have car twoed to dealer have dealer witness torque ammount required to remove filter, if their torque wrench can go that high. I got it off but it's irritating as hell, they are picky on warranty and they tork the hell out of things. If I did that, I would void such and such warranty. I wasn't going to, but i had to vent while I waited for a special filter attachment that has three teeth that crush right into the filter to remove it. That was the only thing that got it off. Thank you

1 day to file and have the hearing set.
1 day to have the hearing.

Definately not worth the time and gas money used to possibly win a few dolllars.
