i went out tonight to the races we hold every sat. here in ft worth tonight for my first time! and man was it coo. i raced a civic si and my tibby cooked rice!!! thats 145hp vs 160hp well also what ever my CAI gave me tonight it was pretty cold.. cold air more hp<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

How did you beat a SI Vtech? A tib comes stock with 140HP that civic came stock with 160hp How can you beat him with just a CAI? I dont think he was trying. 20 hp is a BIG differance man. are you serous?

Belive me rob has a SI VTEC and its very quick. B16 motor i think it was, He was probably a real crappy driver or he had AUTO and you had STICK.

no, he was tryin and trying hard. he was pushing the crap out of that si. my friend was in the car with me and he said that i beat him by a 1/4 car length or the front panel. i got him of the start about 1/2 car length but the strip was probably a little less than a 1/4 mile and longer than a 1/8 mile. and it was my first off the line race! so iam happy!

IR2, Lantra is right for the most part. A Tiburon is 140hp vs. Civic SI with 160hp. With an Intake on the Tiburon, it will only really help him off the line. So while he may have beaten the Civic off the line, once you start shuffling through the gears, the Civic can rev much higher at around 8-9000rpms w/ VTEC really milking all 160 hp out of the engine vs the Tiburon redling at 6,500...Giving it more of that "umpff" when you shift at redline. All I can say is that the Civic SI must have not been trying because a Tiburon without modifcations CANNOT beat a stock Civic SI. Plain and simple. I know this because I have driven one. They move faster then the Tiburon/Elantra. Not by much, but a noticeable difference.

I know that they can get F***ed up with the wrong mods... can actually make them slower. I knew someone with one who raced my bestfreinds Grand Am GT (Modified) and at first he won.. but he put some kidna intake and exhast on it.. he lost to my freind.. so he put on more.. and slowed down again.. not by much but enough to lose to that GA. It took him getting NOS to beat my Best Freind again.. maybe that guy did the same thing.

hey you guys also have to realize that if you race your car alot, you rag the **** out of it. lets say its a 94 SI ands he runs it hard as crap all the time, and shark attack's 97 tib isnt ragged out... i'd put my money on shark attack

very nice kill sharkattack and everybody that relies on crankhorsepower for analysis. the b16 vtec puts out 160hp at the flywheel but at the wheels it is only putting out 109hp. the tib has 140hp at the crank and probably about that or a little more as the civic motor at the wheels. now prove me wrong.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Ok, here is the dilly-o

A Tib can beat a Civic Si. I used to have a Tib as most of you know and the only mod I had was an intake (not cold air).
I have beaten <b>EVERY</b> Civic Si I raced.
A Tib is fully capable of keeping up with the Si Civic, sometimes it may be the driver cause I do consider myself a good driver. But a kill is a kill no matter what.
