Ok heres the dealio. I took the black mat off the understide of my hood because I was going to do the mirror film. Ok, I get the mat off and hmmm...they didn't finish painiting under there <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> I'm not good at paiting big parts like that so I was going to take it to a body shop for them to paint. The one near me said that since I was there for my accident (that damn b!tch) a couple months ago, they would do it for 45 bucks. NOW, the question is, do I get it repainted in black or in red (car is red). The engine is decked out in red and yellow. I can't really visualize what black would look like. Should I get it black or should I get it done in red? <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle> HELP <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>

LoL, at my body shop we dont paint under the covers either because most people dont look under there, and it is a hella easier to just do around that area.

Did they repaint the hood or something from the accident and forgot to do the inside? A lot of places won't paint the door jams or engine bay for collision repairs or repainting.

Id paint it the same color as the car. Then put the tint on it.

How bad was the accident?

Red...don't feel bad. My hood was identical to yours when I took off the black sound deadener, to apply the mirror film too. I was soooo pissed. Talk about cheaping out. So, I had to make a run to the paint shop and buy some paint, load up my spray guns, and go to town. <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anyway...you'll want the shop to paint it red. If you have a darker color, like black..the mirror film won't show up as good as a lighter color like red.

JRH- the accident was pretty bad in my eyes since I don't have a spec of dirt anywhere and don't even think about swirl marks. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Anyway, the b!tch woman backed out of her parking spot and slammed right into me. She didn't even look when she backed out (obviously since she hit me) <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> So I was parked liked this ---- and she was like this | so when she backed into me, she backed into my pasenger door and front fender. <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> She slammed into me so hard that I coudn't even open the door. It was about 5000 worth of damage, but she paid it of course.
Anyway, the hood wasn't touched in the accident, it came that way from the factory. Everyone that has taken it off says that theirs was unpainted as well. <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> If only I had a place to put my hood for it to dry. <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle>
Anyway, back on topic. I am still undecided about black or red. Random said that the black would make it hotter under there and if that means less performance uh uh no way..it stays red. I was just thinking that maybe the black would be cool since that's not a popular idea. I dunno just trying to be unique. <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>
What do you think of the heat/performance theory?

I agree fully with him on the fact that the darker color will hold the heat more. Besides, by having a hood that's red on top, and black underneath just doesn't look right. It looks unfinished...but that's my opinion only. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
