Hey! I just got my phone line back operating, I was without internet for 3 weeks.

In that time quite abit has changed though

I sold my 99 Silver Accent GS to a friend and as of the 28th I am a proud owner of a 2002 Accent GS(details below)! Its sooo sweet! I loved my 99 but it was a base line. This 02 feels like luxory compared to the old 99!

Immediate plans are for a basic aerospeed cone filter from a local car club(which I will be joining promptly). A friend says he can make the cone fit no matter what so I will see how it looks afterwards

Since my car is Coastal Blue I will be using white as my alternate color throughout the car. side mirrors, door handles, rims, wiper blades, vents(just below the wiper blades), etc. No window tint this time since blue is illegal and black dosen't go with blue and white The interior will be white as well once finished, the light grey solid white, the dark grey will be blue

All in all, a good start, any other suggestions? Thanks and see you all around!

Yea I am really enjoying this engine already

I am the type of person who perfers appearance over performance however so I will be doing very little too it. Cone air Filter and a muffler is about it. The engine already performs quite nicely so its good to me :)

Curious though. inbetween the air filter and throttle body is a extension to the hose between both. It goes straight down and then widens out into a rectangle. The only connection I see to it anywhere is a mount on the air filter box to keep it from shaking around to much. What is this thing? And should I simply remove it entirely when I goto install the cone?

Thanks!

yes you can remove the small air box that is there it is used to store air and will be of no use to you when you install the CAI!

Congrats, nice color. My suggestion is to go monotone. Accent colors are done. ALmost all the cars now at shows are mono. I had my stuff all painted CB in the car and it looked SSSSSOOOOO sweet, especially at night with my blue lighting. I changed all the bulbs inside to blue. A 92-95 Civic intake fits the GS with a few inches chopped off the end. I had the KORE CAI on mine though, wanna see a pic? If you need any suggestions on your car check my sig. The blue bulbs would look REALLY sweet in the white faced gauges. But heh, it's your car. Do what you want......

accent1 : Thanks for the advice, yet another piece of my stock intake I will be removing next week!

Supergtrs_man : I thought about going with a mono color but several things come to mind. One, I tend to go the direction others are not. If everyone in my area is doing honda's and eclipse's then I am doing Hyundais. Two, personal preference. While mono looks tight on the exterior it also gives me the impression of a factory car. Two nicely contrasting colors does well when you want people to know you play with your ride and doing so in the past made me many friends who I would of otherwise never known. You said in your post that the blue bulbs would look really sweet in the white faced guages. Is the current green/blue color generated by the bulb or by the face guage? Meaning if I put blue bulbs in place of the factory bulbs would the guage light up blue?

Thanks!

Hey cool, to be honest it was yours and one guys over on hyundaituner who made me want the coastal blue so badly :)

Have you messed around with your gauge cluster at all? I want to make it change colors to blue but am not entirely sure where to get the bulbs themselves.

How's your ride doing lately?

the blue bulbs that you are requesting should be able to be had at any autoparts store! F.E pepboys, autozone, etc!

And yes the storeage bock is desighned to store air so that when you open the throttle it has some extra there in the intake system.

It's kind of like the vortex system that you see on chevy truck or GMC trucks I do believe that ford uses the same item on the escort and other cars! Kinda dumb if you ask me!!!!! but hey each to his own!

acutally i think it looks really good.. but frount brake dust is getting to the paint so make sure u use something durable... In the pic on the mountian the rims hadn't been done yet.. prolly couldn't see it if i had buy that time anyway. (better pics to coem soon) BTW If ya don't have alot of money (like me) a good headlight to get is the Super Blue Hologens from GE.. walmart has them fro just under 10.. they are freakin bright.. i got some for christmas and Im gonna keep getting those in what ever other cars i end up with.

accent1 : thanks for the tips. I have heard of the vortex system...also know of the tornado and have heard it works really well. I may grab that as well in the near future.

WytchDctr : im actually planning on grabbing some hyper whites from a local car club. I saw them on a friends Jetta(who is part of the club, Street Trendz located in Lexington Park MD) and they look really awesome! I used the blue halogens once before on my 99 and I liked how it seemed to give a very very light blue tint to the edges of the headlights range.

Man I wish I could put blue window tint on my ride. I would take the chance and do it if I wasn't a part time dominos driver. I am seen on the road all together to often. Its good that everyone sees my car, everyone knew my 99 accent on sight, but if something can get a person pulled over its ten times more likely to do so to me. Oh well....

G'night everyone!

paige, thanks for the comment, the ride is going slowly right now, trying to find some extra money to start modding again, i may get a set of konig toxxins, if theyre white, i need to repaint the interior, and do some fiberglass work, but its coming together, slowly, but surely.

Same here, initially I plan on going for what I can afford.

I do want white rims though...17 inch if it fits, white, with an odd numbered star(3/5/7). Local places don't seem to be able to accomodate my needs however so I may soon find myself looking further abroad.

Cone air filters for my accent and my fiancee's...will be purchased on wednesday.

What are you painting on your interior and what colors? All the light grey in my ride is going to be white, all the dark grey will be a blue as close to that of the car as possible.

wouldnt spacers cure the rubbing? it would stick out from the body though right?

grr

everything gray in my raide will be white, im thinking about fiberglassing my interior or doing white vinyl wrap, either way its gonna be a PITA

yea but being a PITA is all in the fun of tormen....i mean toying with our accents :)

And to my knowledge spacers would aleviate the problem but would create an additional problem in that the wider the spacer the less bolt space for your lugnut to grab and hold onto.

ive always wondered...why do rims always have to get wider as they get taller? why can't I simply find a 17 inch rim with a 6.0 inch width? Its a bummer that everyone goes wider. Is there a reason for this or is it just considence?

on another note, we decided my fiancee's accent color. her dark grey will be accented by vw beetle yellow :)

we are only getting the cone for now because we really don't want to start digging too deep into the engine. we are more interested in appearance so a cone will add abit of noise to the engine compartment :)

wheel spacers can be used unless you plan on doing some seriouse corner crawling!

They do deplete the amount of lug space but are perfectly acceptable for street use!

My budd has them on his neon for some time now and has never had a problem!

Size does matter! When wheels get larger they become more weak so they increase the width to cope for the extra size that they are! I'm not sure if I have ever seen a set of 17x6 but I am sure that someone does make them! That would solve the prob of wheel spacers

Wheel spacers will make the problem WORSE. Wheel spacers push the wheel OUT further. This is not what you want. I'm curious as to how you plan on attaching just a filter on your GS. You do know that the GS intake piping is COMPLETELY different from your 99 and your fiancees ride right? Your GS does NOT have a MAF sensor. Also you want to do white and blue on the inside right? You say you want a blue as close as possible? Why don't you get the parts painted Coastal Blue? I got my whole inside done for under $100, painted and clear coated. Any body shop should do it for you.

Yes I do apologize I did not read the post right well spacers will Not help if you are already scrubing on the out side! It will only push the wheel farther out and cause more problems! Now if the tire is rubbing on the strut then that is a totaly different story!

ok curious...what is the largest rim I can toss under my wheel well without rubbing the edges or spring or anything else?

It's not the diameter, it's the width. 7" and you will rub once lowered, some rub before they lower. You will rub on the screw that holds the bumper to the body. If you look in your rear fender where the bumper mounts you will see the screw. You will have to trim that edge back about 3" and relocate that screw. Like I said search back a few months and you will see this covered in full........
