I was running my Tibby all this time with stock exhaust with Magnaflow muffler. Two days ago, I had this weird feeling that I must get cat back for my car but I did not have enough money to buy brand-name stainless steel cat back.
I decided to put custom exhaust and since I already had performance muffler I thought that it would not cost much to have custom full cat back.
Right after my physics class, I went to local muffler shop and let them put a custom 2.5" exhaust (I was thinking about putting 2.25" exhaust but I changed my mind) for around $100. This is what happened after exhaust replacement.
1. Smooth Acceleration - I really like how my car now accelerate smoothly without my car lagging because of air pressures. However this brings one bad result. That is, I felt that I lost low-end power although I am not quite sure about this. Once my car start to accelerate, however, the 2.5" really helps me to accelerate better at higher RPM, at least it feels like it.
The reason why I am saying this is that something different happened when I accelerate my car. Before custom exhaust, when I press gas pedal fully after stopping, my tire almost immediately make that "squeak" sound (when tire spins) then my car accelerated. However after installing 2.5" pipe, I did not hear tire spinning sound until I got to almost top RPM at first gear (automatic trasmission).
2. Sound factor - I just love how my car sounds. Really deep and aggressive. I think Magnaflow muffler and bigger exhaust matches pretty well (I also removed resonator). I just love how people turn their head when I drive my car.
3. 2.5" or 2.25"? - I am pretty satisfied with 2.5" pipe because it gives my car smoother acceleration. However if you want low end power, you should probably get 2.25"
