ok... let me try and be a bit more specific are there any types of 5 speed transmissions that are compatible with my tibby, as in: can i have on installed without any major modifications? the reason for this being it's pretty much impossible for me to find a used manual tib/elantra tranny for dan's estimated price for what they should go for. i figure if i could find a compatible tranny from a more widely seen car such as an eclipse for example, i could drop one of those in instead. anyone know of this, or, better yet, where i can find a hyundai tranny for around 400-500? thanks in advance

You can pretty much bolt any Hyundai tranny to you car including ones from the accent but I would not suggest that route. I would stick with a trany from either a 1.8ltr or 2.0 ltr Tib or Elantra.

Hope that answers your question.
