Just Need A Little Help!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

A friend of mine has a 02' Hyundia Elantra its the 2.0 w/ the manual transmission, and he's thinking about buying a Turbo kit for his car. These are my questions:

1. Does anyone know the engine code?

2. Does anyone on here have a 02' turbo'd Elantra?

3. Is there a better swap for his car?

4. Whats the block made of, Aluminum or steel?

The Turbo kit he was Thinking about getting comes with New rods and Pistons, thats why im wondering how strong the block is.......

5. If the block is aluminum qhow many pounds of boost can it handle?

6. At what PSI does it need to be sleeved?

I am New to the Hyundai thing, so excuse my questions if they seem dumb to some of you......

Thanks!

engine code is G4GF, or a beta enigine. elantra enigines are the same as tiburon engines so parts are swapable. swapping the car is not worth it.
I FOUND OUT THE THE BLOCK IS CAST IRON.......

THANKS FOR THE HELP!
1) G4GF, commonly referred to as the Beta 2.

2) I'm sure someone does, but turboing any Beta motor is going to be about the same.

3) No. This engine is built for boost.

4) Cast iron.

5) General consensus is about 8 psi with proper tuning and stock internals. Fully built ones are well over 600whp in Korea.

6) No sleeves.

There's no '02 Tiburon. Your motor is the same as the '03 Tib.

thats the kit he was thinking about getting......Does anyone know about this kit? Is it good? bad?

I dont think it seems that bad consitering everything it comes with!
The stage 3 looks good for a street car. I'd prefer forged pistons and rods if he plans on racing it alot or pushing the boost up. Cast pistons are good for a street car because you don't have to wait for the car to warm up before driving it. Forged pistons are noisy until they warm up (piston slap). If he's looking at the stage 1, I'd recommend the Alpine kit instead (not just because we sell it). I the Alpine kit is higher quality and costs $100 less.
He was planing on getting the stage 3.......Have you herd anything good on this particular kit? Do you sell anything thats close to the stage 3?

p.s. Thanks for the help!
2 options for you. A) buy the supercharger kit as he recommended. or B) read as much as you can and buy all your turbo parts seperately. I'm sure you can get a better kit that will cost less than $3,000. You will be happy with a turbo'd beta
I know what Turbo parts he will need, but its alot easyer to buy a kit.....I take it the Alpine kit is a Supercharger..?? Im trying to do the leg work for him, cause he's serched and hasn't found anything useful........Agian the whole Hyundai thing is new to me.....

Well currently I am working on a turbo setup for my 2000 elantra 5 spd, I have found these motors are tough as nails. Really, if your looking to turbo be ready to drop mon mon because just a freakin turbo manifold from kspec is 300+ . You can rake in an OBX from ebay for 175-200 roughly, turbo size really is leniant mostly any small turbo, right now im hunting down a t28 myself .. I am doing mine a junkyard junkyad turbo manifold and intercooler. Pipping is easy, cheap ebay BOV , internal wastegate . I'm using the fith injector setup , check out haltech for a good fifth injector controller . Clutch = Need better .

Is that Alpine kit the only one available? How about injectors, and some type of fuel management??
What kind of horse power is this capable of? and at what psi?
Why don't you just checkout alpine's site? I'm sure it would mention that
