god. so i just watched my local news. street racing expose! omg omg omg! theres street racers! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> like there haven't been drag races since people started driving cars. it was such a total joke. i hope IR2 or someone else in utah was watching channel 5 tonight, i'm sure they would have gotten as big a kick out of it as i did.

haha. but there was some good footage of my friend Jonathan in his Jun tuned typeR getting pulled over and having a nice talking to by the po po. <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

then at the end when they cut back to the hosts, this 80 year old anchor person comes back on like, "well, i hope the next time we have to do a story like that... it wont be a tragic one."

anyway. i'm done now. i couldn't decide whether to post this here or in the flame forum. but it seemed like it could go either way

I have essentially stopped watching the news and pretty much tv in general, so I missed the details, but they busted a big late night street race near Peterborough,Ontario(I use the term liberally, it was on a county road just outside the city actually), but it always gets so over dramatized, a big uproar over something isn't new at all. I mean, just like everyone says, racing is as old as the automobile, in its legal forms and not so legal forms. Why can't they just stop wasting all their efforts on punishing street racers and find ways to provide legal outlets, I mean drag strips or more race days at local tracks.... mmmmm Mosport.... oh, where was I? I think I'm done. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

The best reports are the ones that Dateline or 20/20 do. They always screw up what really happens. There were TONS of news stories when Fast & Furious came out. Most them were all bull§hit, but definitly good for laugh! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

I saw it! LOL!
In fact, I recorded it because I was at work!
I was a little shocked to hear them practically give out the best location. 'On the far West Side' And then you can see the damn buildings.<img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> Idiots!

Anyway, I was also pissed about how unresponsible they made all Street Racers look.
I wanted to call that station and set a few things straight. But then they would have been, "Oh, can we meet you? Can we go Racing with you? Can we make you a sell out, by telling us all of your main locations???"

But, I was LMAO, when the cop was saying that they have a special way to track us and wrap up a pretty little package for the court system. YEAH RIGHT! BRING IT ON!

Street Racing is a way of life! You can't scare us out of it. Sorry Mr. Police officer Sir...

this isn't street racing in the middle of school zones, this isn't even racing on main streets. this is out in the middle of industrial areas where there is 0 traffic, and the closes buildings are 50 feet from the actual street. there is usually 1 way in and 1 way out of the streets you go on, and everyone (including the spectators) knows the risks. personally i dont see anything wrong with it, were not taking out little kids, were not taking out ourselves. that's just the way it is, and always has been, and as long as they make cars, nothing is going to change, someone is going to want to go fast... might as well make it in as safe an environment as possible. "take it to the track" is a good idea, but in the real world (well at least here in utah) there is 1 track, it closes early, isn't open on sundays, and hardly has any test and tune time. it just isn't feasable to "take it to the track" all the time.

it's different if you race across different streets in an uncontrolled environment. but in a straight line on an uninhabited and deserted street i dont see a problem with it.

Or write a Big Book about how irresponsible Street Racing in Urban Industrial areas can be.
You know why?? Because hitting poor little cardboard boxes, is a crime right? That is about the only thing that you can hit out there.
Unless some dumbass street racer decides to run in front of your car while lined up. Which I don't think happens very often.

Unless you have a tendancy to do that....If you do, be advised not to attend the Street Races here In Salt Lake City Utah, USA OK? Because I would feel bad, if you dented my car. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

sometimes i do go to the SCCA autox events and race, but it's hard with my big heavy VW on the ass stock suspension. it's still really really fun though, and as far as i know we dont have any road race courses, if we did i know i'd be there every weekend, i love road racing

street racing was completely shut down in philly almost all summer because some old guy died when a car flew by him and his heart stopped. his wife made a huge deal and the cops started impounding cars and handing out $250 tickets to SPECTATORS. but its picked back up again recently.

I drive a 1997 Kia Sephia with 75,000 miles on it.
