I think I may know what this is, but I would like to hear it from someone else; I just had an oil change and they took off my oil pan as it was leaking, a few months back I had a blown head gasket and all they did was make sure the head was trimmed up and put it back on. I live in Canada and it is winter, but do you think my coolant is leaking into my engine???

I think DREW is leaking into your engine.

Oh wait...wrong forum. ::anti-Drew mode = OFF::

It sounds like there's definitely SOMETHING in there. Coolant / water possibly... Is this a BETA motor? What did you do to blow the head gasket on THAT? Those are hard to pop! That in mind, if all they did was a cursory fix-up and check, there is probably more stuff that went wrong. Take it back to the same place you had it serviced for the blown head, and see if they'll continue to take care of it as an ongoing, related problem.

Good luck!

::anti-Drew mode = ON!::

hey there...I just noticed the same "paste" on my oil cap...my fluid levels all seem to topped up...could it be water in the engine and if so could it get in through the air filter if I just have a cone filter on? Thanks

I talked to the guy at the dealership, he has been pretty straight forward wiht me ( told me that the GT cam would give me more hp and torque,.but only if I made other mods would I notice it) He owns a 99 tib, and said he noticed the same thing, and said that it is moisture from stopping and going (short trips)
Also, if you have a breather on your engine, this is a way that moisture may also get ,build up a bit. ANy how, I will keep an Eye on it, I used papertowel to just wipe up any of the light brown paste. The car seems to vbe running well, and I do live in sub zwero temps, still using 10w30 synthetic.

I can notice when anything on my car is amiss!!

It actually stresses me out when the dearship can not tell what is wrong! That is rare though.

One time I one of my spark plugs was going bad, They thought I was craxy,.. turns out hte guy who noticed amiss had racing experience. Chucked the Bosch Plat, ..put NGK back in,..work great.
