I let my 16 yr. old drive my accent and as we got to the house, he past the house and instead of making a complete stop he slow down but did not stop and change from drive to reverse making the car jerk and now when i put the car in reverse you have to seat and wait and give gas to it until the transmission catch reverse and then it will move but only do this in reverse all of the other gears are fine. I ask and a couple of local shop ask over $1800.00 to rebuild the trans and over $2500.00 to replace the question is do i need to invest this type of money to fix the problem or can something be don't cheaper. I had work in cars but never in a hyundai and some people tell me this is a big job. I don't use the cars as much. right now it has been seating for over six months.

give me your opinion about it.

thanks

Check your transmission oil level - sometimes if it's low it'll cause this. Also, when was the last time you had the fluid/filter replaced? Some simple transmission maintenance might help here.

Check the fluid and add some seafoam trans tune to it if its not black. If its real dark get it flushed and then add sea foam trans tune to it.
