Loose gas cap = EVAP check engine code?

So it appears that i have a recall for my car as of June 10. Seems that its the gas cap. Ive had the EVAP small leak code forever, and was wondering if that might cause it. I think it does, but just double checking. If that light goes off ima gonna do a happy dance. Does this also affect performance?

No gas cap or a bad gas cap will throw a Cel you will be dancing

Need to have you evap system pressure checked.. A loose gas cap will set a large leak code not usually a small leak code.
