thats the thing, i do. i do my maintance check up and stuff at the dealer. its a new car, not even a year old. i got great milage for the first month, then i got some exhust muffle on it and i noticed the drastic drop in milage. can an exhust do that junk? or is it that i might have gotten a POS muffle or what?

I don't think that even a POS muffler could drop your mpgs down 10-15mpg

I dont know if the accent has this im sure it does. but check the fuel pressure regulator. LOL I had a 87 grand am and the regulator went out on it and i drove acrost town 5 miles and then around for a bit 10 more and realized that my gas gauge which had started out at full when i left was now reading empty so I got it checked and the regulator wasn't coming down in pressure and was having the fuel pump a healthy 37 psi when it should have been 5-7 lol. So check your fuel pressure regulator. If it is bad should be really easy to fix.

How many miles on your car? Some cars really have to break in, like once they hit 5,000 miles, their fuel effiency will pick up. After I hit around 2,000 miles, the gas mileage picked up. I average around 40mpg on the highway, which is extremely high for an Elantra. City is around 33 or so. Its variable depending on the driving condtions. I would do what autobot suggested. Muffler can take away from fuel economy. Intake may as well, but Im not sure about that.

Also, check your gas guage. Some fall really fast, and then slow down. Mine reads low. It was almost on E once, and then only 8 gallons went in (14 gallon tank). Sometimes that can be thrown out of wack. Next time you are at the gas station, read how much gas goes in the tank and compare it to the guage.

i doubt its my 17 rims, cuz the prob began b4 that. liek i said for the first 2 months i had the car i got up to 35 mpg, i was liek wow. then i got into mods and all that junk, the first mod i did was getting an exhust, a POS since i was just a beginer. and i mean right after that i noticed i was eating gas like nothing. from that point on it went form liek 30 avg to 20 now. i didnt add my rims til 2 months after. i mean the only reasonable explanation is the exhust, btu how the hell can the exhust cause that? i take it to the dealer and the complain its all the after market stuff and wont check it out, but i knwo it cant be.

The intake made my mileage go up, i think. However, when I drive like an ass, it drops by about 1mpg.

I think u need to go and have it inspected at the dealer or another shop.
