I have a question on the MAF....Now I have checked out some specs on the MAF and it sounds to me that it is a "hot wire" sensor....Now does anybody know what a "Karman" type sensor is.....like the ones on the Mitsubishi..Eclipse, Mirage, etc..etc..
The Apexi Super AFC is a relief...to those who want an economic way to change airflow parameter. It's working real good so far.:thumbup

For the S-AFC to properly work on the BETA engines that use MAF sensors, you need to select Hotwire and type 01 in/out. If you leave it at type 00, it doesn't correct enough...

Karman Vortex sensors are similar to a MAF in that they directly measure flow. They are different however in that they measure the airflow by way of a frequency versus a voltage... MAF = a wire that's heated, and then needs voltage to keep that wire to the same heat because of the air cooling it off. Karman = a little reed that resonates from all the incoming air, and the resonance is sent as an analog signal to the ECU.

A MAFS is a MAFS is a MAFS is a MAFS. Mass Air Flow Sensor is what the acronym stands for and it doesn't matter whether its a hot-wire, thin-film, or karman vortex counter they are all still a MAFS. The difference is the signal that is generated but they all still measure air mass.

The reason I was asking was because The Super AFC has 4 sensors to chose from. So I had to make sure that it was a hot wire and not a Karman Vortex. Thanks for the info.
