Ahem...As you all know Motor Trends Car the Year is the oldest (1949) award in the auto industry, so ... the 2001 Elantra was one of the cars of the twenty-one vying for the title. The Fall issue of the Motor-trend New Car Buyer's Guide has the article. Domestic and Foreign were allowed to compete. The Elantra didn't win, but was mentioned as
"the most improved of the bunch".
