For those who didnt know my thermostat stuck and overheated my motor and did some damage. So here is what I did today.... The motor came out (which you can see in the pics) and I started to finish the assembly of the other block (the one in the pics in the shed). That one has scoupe turbo pistons, shot peened rods, milled to raise the compression to 8:1 and the head im installing is port and polished. I'll also be using my underdrive pulley of course. The only downfall is I wasnt ready to install this setup so it will be lacking the valve job, o well though. I will also be lacking a turbo to make any kind of real power with until i get some money saved up. Im planning on the gt26 though with a different manifold. Im going to max out the t15 in the meantime lol

all us X3 turbo guys need ta shave lol

may the force be with you mang. get that valve job first though! don't waste the time, do it right, how you want it! got another daily driver??? i wish i could have parted my car out, i would have let you _steal_ my t-25.
Nah this is my daily driver and i've been without for a week! No time for the valve job unfort. I would of loved your t25 =-) BTW thats not me in the pic thats my buddy keith but I need to shave too LOL
That's cool Shawn , I assume you're going to boost over 14psi rigth now! By the way the saab t25 is a direct bolt on on the scoupe manifold? If it is, how about the downpipe flange?
Well soon i will have pics up of the carnage that was done. I was suspecting a hairline crack in the head, but i just pulled the pistons out and the area between the rings (ringlands?) busted on two of them. Trying to assemble the other motor now getting it ready to drop in.... I dont think the t15 will do 14psi LOL I'll find out though.... I was thinking more like 15-20psi with an oil cooler and few other goodies soon. Chris used a saab turbo i believe, i dont know if the downpipe works since he did go with a custom one. I think its better to have a custom one made anyway.....
20PSI? Wow lot's of boost man. As for the t15... believe me it makes 14psi!!! I broke my old motor with the t15 over 14psi remeber? :) Post some pics when done to see how's going.

very nice shawn, can't wait to see it in person. lookin good man, boost should be no problem for you, i mean you might even want that bigger turbo more than ever now LOL, good job man
gonna break the motor in properly right? babying, prelubing, no boost right away? hate to see big success come to a quick end. ;]

gt28rs anyone... anyone...?
gt28r o yeah =-) I'll have to catch up on funding first as this little venture has drained my pocket lol Yeah I will break her in nice and easy. The first week I will baby it anyway since it wont have nothing but the base tune im going to give it. No boosting either.... I have to get it to a shop on a dyno and tune it so hopefully the following weekend (not this one) I will have dyno #'s. We will figure out exactly how much power can be made with a t15. I did prelube everything, tightened it all to torque specs and will re tighten the head bolts after its warmed up.
aint nothing but sexy mang... good luck!
WOT WOT The motor is in! Now to reconnect EVERYTHING and see what happens.... I'll put it back togother slowly this week....
damn dude sry 2 hear what happened, hopefully this new motor will come out woopin asss, gl man take it slow

You may change your mind about how you break in your engine. I have many friends That run DSM's and EVO's that have used this method, and its not bullshit.

My SRT-4 Manual actually says to rape the motor, within the legal road limitations, after about the first 20 miles for approx 50-100 miles so rings seat properly, etc etc. So, maybe you are onto something.
That was definitely an interesting read. I got the day off because it rained so im trying to put everything back togother and hoping to start it tonight. I'll get some pics up too of the motor back in and everything cleaned up (for the most part). Looks good still got alot of work to do though the hard part is over. The first 20 miles or so i wont be able to get on it b/c until i get to the dyno and have it tuned im going to baby it.... Maybe I can order a wideband sometime soon.... Rub I still havent forgotten about you I'll paypal you on Friday!

oh lol i forgot all about it .. jebus my saviour! im so red right now in the account.. i need a money tamp*n. thanks!
Well i worked on it all day yesterday but didnt get far enough to start it up. Im bout to go back outside and try to finish it. My friend is on the way to help me out so Im REALLY hope to crank it up tonight. The engine bay is coming alot much cleaner looking than before (clean as can be for a daily driver DIY turbo project lol). I'll get some shots up tonight for everyone to see and let you know if I actually get to crank it. Im tryin to get ahold of a shop to get it tuned this fri/sat but noone seems to want to jump on it (not for a reasonable price). The shop down the road said i could use the dyno for 1 hour for $125 and tune it myself if i have the equipment, may have to buy my dads laptop. 50$ for each extra hour, only problem is i cant do it this week, may have to wait two weeks. Still debating ordering my wideband this friday and giving it a great street tune myself next week....
Street tune it Shawn, the dyno has a standard enviroment and it's not street. If I were you I'd buy that wideband for sure. This is my next step anyway. Go for it!
