this guy in greece used to have 1.6L beta on the Tib then transplanted 2.0L. Still kept the ECU, CAMS, and Gearbox from 1.6L. with I/H/E, he's able to get 190 WHP not at the crank but 190WHP running 0~60 in low 6's

damn i read the whole post and the guys sound serious about that 190. I give him mad props for staying naturally aspirated. And as the post goes he has a lot more than intake header and exhaust. He pretty much has the whole engine blueprinted and raised the compression quite a bit. He says he's running a bad ass ecu as well. I give him a lot of respect because that probably cost him as much as i'll make in a couple of decades.

190? with 1.6 cams in a 2.0? not to sure about that but the gear box, think about it guys, the 1.6 tranny is probably geared so low that on the dyno it's reading 190 hp and it accelerates like it has 190 hp due to gearing.

Brendan! what's up man?

The 1.6 cam had less lift/duration(don't remember which) than the 2.0 cam. Hence less power right?

1.6 cam is the exact same as the 1.8 cam which is better than the cam on the 2.0.
That whole topic became a sh6t storm. RED asked the guy for proof, which has yet to come, and basicly set him straight.
We all hope it's true but so far no proof. The guy who owns that car is in Greece. Apparantly he had someone else do all the work and actually knows very little about what was done to it.

I agree with Patriot, the guy in Greece seems to know very little about what was done to his car, so he could have had his cams machined and he doesn't know. Besides, if it's so easy to get additional 15HP+ just for changing the cams, don't you think Hyundai would have realized it? Even the factory tuning is done thinking in the "standard" everyday driver, there shouldn't be such a big difference just in the cams, or we would have a 160HP+ "factory" Tiburon with 1.6 cams. Of course if I'm wrong I would be happy to know it, and swap a 2.0 liter in my Elantra with 1.6 cams! <img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Anybody has gear ratios for 1.6 / 1.8 /2.0 ? It would be interesting to make a comparisson among them.

Well guys,

Hello everyone here! It's me I have that Tib. I have posted a list over TEAM-SR about the mods I know that have been done to my car and I promised that I will post all the details I can get. I have raised my compression ration, machined flywheel-rods-crank, overbored throttle body (I have to find out the diameter), changed the 2.0L with the 1.6L gearbox-fleewheel-cams-sensors-management, and right now me mechanic is reprogramming the EPROM of my stock ECU. We had some problems with premature ingnition (I think you guys call it pinging) and right now I am running this car with a mx RPM of 6500 wich is lower than stock. My mechanic just solved the "pinging" problem and we are trying to modify the RPM cutter at 8000RPMS which is my final goal (well I hope that the money I have spent in developing my motor will get me much higher, but maybe I have to change some sensors and maybe the managment)....

So up to now we stick to the stock managment. We use a laptop connected to the stock ECU to "tune" the EPROM wich contains info about the fuel, and the ingnition timings.

Right noe I still use the car with BP SUPER PLUS UNLEADED FUEL 98 OCTANES and I Poor a couple o bottles of octane RAISER (Each bottle states that it raises 8 octanes the fuel it is added at 60 liters of fuel)...If I use that for fuel, then I have no problem <img src=/images/forums/snitz/wink.gif width=15 height=15 border=0> and my car runs absolutely like crazy <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/guns.gif width=33 height=16 border=0>

Honestly I wouldn't mind using them for the rest of my life, but my mechanic has just told me the problem is solved...

So now when we solve the problem with the RPMs I will post to you guys some dyno's and as much as I can find out about my engine...

I use 4-2-1 headers and a filter-cone for intake...My catalyst is a free-flow AMERICAT RACING and all the rest of the exaust is free-flow...(the sound is amazing!!!)

PS: My mechanic has been preparing racing cars for 30 years. He is the mechanic that prepared the victorious Accent of Vomvylas wich has been taking the first place at 1600cc cars N/A for several years...IT is using the BETA 1.6L of Hyundai....

I promise to keep you guys informed about my project...(Actually it is delayed because of a accident I had...A damn bike fall over my car and he has no insurance so I have to pay it all by my-self)...

Actually, the wouldnt' the dyno just prove how much hp and not whether it's actually s/c or turboed/nitrous, etc ?
You'd still have to believe that it's n/a , right ?
Not saying you shouldn't , just saying you'll still have to trust he's only done what he says to the motor.

Sorry, my point was we shouldn't doubt the guy or call BS when we aren't in possession of all the facts.

You are right though, posting dyno sheets would mean Jack Sh!t, the sheets could be for any car, or doctored.

I personally believe him, it just annoys me when people call BS when hey don't know the full story or they think that because they can't get that sort of HP then nobody else can.
