Hey guys, i emailed Holley and they said to check whether i have a vacuum sensitive fuel pressure regulator in the engine. I have a 01 Tib and honestly dont know what that means. Also everything im reading about nos tells me to get a new pump..should i? and one more thing, a guy i talked to said that the engine will most likely die after 10 hours of nos use...all u tuners who are running it now, is it true? how much more damage are the pistons taking with a 45-55 shot of nos? thanx!

I broke my old car, but then put 500 bucks into it and got the new tib w/ the trade in cash. Stupid stupid dealers dont know what they bought. Life is great.

Dude,
Hey man, look at the end of your fuel rail (left side if you're looking at the engine from the front and has a vacuum line) and that is fuel regulator. Yes it is vacuum sensitive because it works on the intake vacuum to raise fuel pressure. As far as gettin a new pump, that's none sense. I ran as high as a 75 shot with no problems. What you're running is fine, you just have to "tee" the tibs regulator with the NOS regulator unless you're running a wet system. The engine won't die after 10 hrs of use, that's only if everytime you drive your engine you use NOS. If you have anymore questions let me know and I'll try to help as much as possible. Good luck!

I don't know about this 10 hrs of use thing.... I doubt this is based on any facts but...

Let's see a bottle lasts about 2min... so that is 300 bottles of nitrous.

if using nitrous on a daily basis will blow up your engine in 10 hours, then using a turbo on a daily basis will blow it up in 10 hours too. the engine is under the same load/stress using any power adder regardless. ADEQUATE FUEL FLOW is the key to keep a turbo/supercharged/nitrous engine alive and kicking.

i would like to disagree with your comment about the daily use of nitrous. i have already gone through 5 bottles of nitrous in 4 weeks. i use it every NIGHT on the ride home from work, and i've used it at the track.

nitrous will not blow up anything if it is installed properly.

also, do not rely on the stock fuel pump NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODY TELLS YOU.. sure, its "capable" of hanlding it.. but its marginal flow capabilities really puts your engine on the EDGE of leaning out.. DONT RISK it for a $110 pump... its easy to install, i've got the details on my website. http://www.pcrepairworld.com/nitrousworld

also, if you can spare yourself the aggrevation. get a wet kit , not a dry kit. you'll thank me some day, when you mis a shift or hit the top speed limiter... using a dry kit, the ecu reduces the injector pulse rate and basically cuts back on fuel.. but the nitrous system does not know this and continues to spray.. causing a lean condition and then you can kiss your engine goodbye.. with a wet kit, the additional fuel is injected along with the nitrous fog, therefore if you hit the limiter, you will not lean out.

trust me. i have already prooven this a few times.. even though i have an auto.. i did put it in 1st gear once, and go all out and i forgot to shift.. i was at the limiter for more than a second hearing it go ratatatatat... NO ENGINE DAMAGE... the extra fuel saved the motor :) and its still running strong with an 80HP shot.

100% stock car.

Bravo FordFasterr.. I agree completely. Wet kits may be just a little more time consuming to install but are well worth it in the end.
