Just when I think I'm getting on top of things, somethings comes along to kick me in the nads.
I just pulled off the highway into a town in Florida about 60 miles away from home, when my Scoupe just dies. No horrible screeching ot banging noises that indicate catastrophic mechanical failure, it just quietly and calmly stalled, and the "check engine" light came on. It would turn over just fine, but wouldn't start.
Got a tow truck to take me to a nearby autoshop, where it was diagnosed as a bad EFI computer. When the mechanic took the old one out, it smelled bad, like burned electronics. When he took the lid off, a tiny surface-mount capacitor had burst, rendering the unit useless.
So by the time they got a new module couriered over, and did a tune-up (as it was in bits already, it seemed like a good idea to have them do that as well) and paid for the tow, I dropped about $900 on the thing.
Guess I'll be keeping my Scoupe a bit longer now. Good job I like driving it.
