OK, Coke ( the drink) got spilled on the back of my car. Now I have some lovely pink streaks on my red car. I am assuming the acid in the soda discolored the paint. I didn't know it was on my car till the next day. Can I use a little rubbing compound, or polishing compound or will that just mess up the clear coat. I don't know a whole lot about the paint on the car so any ideas would be helpful.

Coke should not discolor the paint. I have used a enamel reducer to wipe it away and rewax the area (I also paint cars).

The discoloration you see is the dried Coke. If washing it won't remove it, use the reducer or a polishing agent.

I washed it really well, then used the new mcquiers next gen wax, and their clay kit. It seems to have worked. If you get REALLY close, and the sun hits at just the right angle I can still see the area, but from more than 2 ft away its not visable any more.
