Yesterday, I went to MIDAS and installed Maganaflow Mufflers (Part #14863). I tested this mufflers in various locations and I can say only one thing. This muffler ROCKS!
I don't know how this compares to 3A Racing Muffler since I haven't tested it. The sound from this muffler is almost same as (but not as loud) having full Catback without spending $400+ (judging from the catback sound clip I heard on the internet).
Overall Appearance:
Shiny and shiny. Like other performance muffler, this mufflers shines. And it is has huge tip! Looks fabulous and fits well to my 2001 Tibby. Only mod they had to do was to use the extra pipe to lower the Mufflers little bit since it has huge tip, and doesn't fit to stock rear bumper. Overall, it looks fantastic.
Performance:
I don't know if it's because of its sound, but my car seems lot powerful than before. Also it seems that my car accelerate little bit faster than before (NOTE: This is not tested. This is just my personal opinion, which was obtained by driving car in several locations). However, if you want sound and HP gain, you should probably get full catback.
Sound:
This is the area where this muffler shines. The sound is simply amazing. Deep, deep and deep sound that everyone is looking for (however not as loud as full catback). When I push the accel. pedal, it makes lovely sound (I hope I could post the sound clip... but that would take me too much time to upload with my slow 56K modem). Anyway, if you are looking for muffler that makes deep and cool sound, go with Magnaflow muffler (or 3A Racing muffler :: heard that they are pretty good, too). If you are looking for something that produce "really" loud noise (which is illegal here), look for other muffler.
Cost:
I paid around $300 for muffler, service charge, and tax. But if you live in big city, you should be able to install it for around $250.
Final word:
If you are looking for something that sound cool, but don't have enough money to buy full catback, go with magnaflow muffler. They will satisfy your needs.
Muffler Specification:
7"round casing
2.25"inlet
4.5" dia. tip-domed
7"length tip
double wall - angled cut
