pulling the wastegate line?

I cant seem to find too much information about this. I was considering it b/c this t15 isnt giving me much boost, about 12psi steady. The apexi ebc wastegate duty cycle is set at 90% duty cycle, the highest it goes. The target boost doesnt matter if its set at 1bar or 2bar. I tricked it a bit using the start duty (gear based boost) adding 5% to each to achieve 13psi steady.... If I ramp it to 10% that 100% duty cycle (basically pulled wastegate line) but the ebc knows what i did and reverts back to off letting the stock wastegate do the work (5psi woopie). So if I pull the wastegate actuator line off and plug the vacuum hose exactly whats going to happen... obviously im going to get extra 5% which may give me 14psi steady or it may romp way up? Opinions, experiences? This t15 sucks lol

if you pull it the turbo is just going to dish out whatever it can. the only downside of this is its going to kill the lifespan of the turbo. a little hamburger size turbo like that is not effective at higher boost. really all its doing is overspinning and blowing hot air. you just need to upgrade dewd;):
Well until I upgrade ;): Im going to try a few things first, like get a k&n air filter. I've got a cone filter that i havent messed with for a LONG time, I'll change that out. I'll also see if anything changes if i move the wastegate boost source to the IM. Im definitely going to upgrade, just wanted a bit more boost now ;-)
I did it my self and hit 14+psi at wot. This sh!t is dangerous as I don't know what this t15 is capable of. Remeber, a little more and bang.. be carefull Shawn. We just dynoed a 1.5 Sohc Getz over here with t25 at 10psi and it made 165hp crank and 18.4 lbs/ft of torque. So I suggest you use a bigger turbocharger. This t15 we have even at 14psi it won't make big hp numbers but it's really good for 17-18lbs-ft of torque and that's the important thing.

holy monkey japakos, those are some pretty sweet numbers. i wish i been able to get my x3 dyno'd.

omg if you yank the vacuum line off the waste gate (make sure you plug the line so no air escapes or gets sucked in) the turbo will boost to your systems full potential. on the t-15 that may be 14psi max... also depends on your exhaust systems ability to spin the turbo. i had a restrictive exhaust on my x3 originally and i could pull the wg line off and boost a steady 10psi. the exhaust was preventing the turbo from spinning any more. if you do it, i would monitor everything closely and ease into it, like a long highway run, not a first or second gear rip. if something goes wrong you want to be able to slow down instead of being too late.

i miss working on my x3... i'm not doing too much to the srt-4 because of the warranty and the wifey. love my 'viper-inspired seats' though, it's like my car gives me a hug every morning. :bandit:

I wish I could see SRT4s here in Greece.. I still think that with a t25 let's say at 10psi you can achieve 18ft-lb of torque. but it's all about what you like. I mean, the t15 spools really fast according to the t25 that spools a little higher. But the t15 will produce a lot of heat. The t15 may produce the same amount of torque with the t25 but less hp for sure unless you boost the hell out of it. But the difference here is that the t25 will produce it's torque at let's say 3500rpm tops and till there you'll have what? 11-12lb-ft? It will be a good kick.. ouch :)
Due to the port and polished head I dont think a t25 will spool much later than the t15 does. My exhaust wont restrict it, its open downpipe
Open down pipe?!? That's alot of noise man...
I've been open downpipe since day one
You crazy.... :??:
open downpipe isnt all that loud really. a whole heck of a lot quieter than open header on a NA car:)
Seriously though it is too loud, im just to cheap to buy exhaust then change the turbo and pay for the exhaust again....

yea... full torque was on around 3k-3.5k BUT... with the 10:1 compression the car was no slug. excellent redlight runner. AND a hyundai accent the lights tires up while moving (i could grab instant traction off the line, but while i was moving after about 20mph THEN the tires would light up) scares the sh1t outta anyone... even the person driving it.

my exhaust of choice was a 2.5" mandrel bent straight through w/ a cat. best sounding of any setup tried. a straight through magnaflow sounded good but i think i lost a few ponies. no muffler was great and the cat kept it quiet enough. what i'd recommend: whatever exhaust you want, mandrel prefered and an exhaust cutout somewhere before the cat. so you can keep good gas mileage and noise reduction but opener up for when it counts.

are you still interested in that oil cooler, omg? and when are we getting videos?????

Yeah I'll work exhaust out once i swap this tiny turbo. As for the intercooler I stumbled on another solution accidentally. My radiator busted about 2 weeks ago and I ordered a replacement from autozone. They never asked me if it was stick/auto, guess they dont have different ones. So i got one for an auto with the trans cooler on it. I was going to use that for oil, it will also help keep the clutter down ;-) Im hoping to do my suspension by next week and have track videos up around the same time ;-)

ah you sexy beast that's a brilliant idea :)
bump for more info!!!

sorry, got impatient there...
I did the front springs/struts the ride is 100x better. Now my headgasket start leaking oil externally pooling oil on my trans. seeping inside it on the clutch :dead: Its always something, I'll fix that by this weekend and then back on it.... The book i used said to torque it 60lbs, webtech says 70lbs + 90 degrees. I'll retorque to proper specs and hope for the best.
I changed the valve cover gasket and didnt have to the tool to torque my head back down (bit ended up in buddys toolbox). Had to put it back togother to go get the bit after work the next day. Torque'd the head down to proper specs, no more leak! Put valve cover on the second time and it leaked, gotta change it again no big deal. I then proceeded to burning the clutch for an extended period of time to heat it up and burn and oil contiminants off of it. Burned it off but the clutch is no good, it cant hold the power. Help up great with stock internals @ 10-11psi though. In the market for a new clutch now.... I also had to change the oil as it had gas residue in it from running way too rich.
