I've been reading posts in multiple forums on this website (to the point where im starting to feel like im studying for an exam LOL). I have a few questions which, by way of reading posts on the subject, begin to explain some not so good things ive noticed on my own car.
I have a 2000 Accent GL, 15K miles on it. I bought it with 14K miles on it.
When I purchased it, I noticed that going from 2-1, there was a distinct, but not too harsh "weight dropping" feeling from the tranny area. I figured maybe because of gear setup or something (i dunno). I am also noticing that 2nd and 1st gears, I often have to wiggle the shifter to get the shifter into place to engage that gear, sometimes it is a bit more difficult than others. 3, 4, and 5 arent a problem in that area, although they do feel somewhat "notchy", like I have to get the shifter in "just right" or ill rub gear teeth slightly.
I was thinking maybe it was me, having to adjust to a new, different clutch.
Now Im starting to wonder if this is a real problem. Seems as though Accent trannies (Hyundai in general) have some *ahem* issues.
Anyone with specific info at all, I would definitely appreciate any input. I am getting ready to head in for 15K interval service. I plan to do the major intervals at the dealership near where i work (several people referred me to their service dept.), and Id like to know what im talking about with a certain level of competence and hopefully get them to absorb the cost under warranty (as opposed to some sucky "abuse" issue which is definitely not on my behalf)
Side note: I dont race my car, I drive mainly highway miles (80% of total mileage), I do like to get to highway speed before i get onto, or shortly after merging onto highways (i dont call that hard acceleration.....but maybe it is, i dont know...its not hard compared to how i used to drive LOL).
So, anyone with info/expertise on this subject, please reply (if its not a hassle, itd be great to get replies in my mailbox

Thanks!
Chris
