I've noticed that some turbos have water cooling provisions, mostly factory ones, and some don't, mostly after market ones. Is it necessary to hook up the coolant lines?

I've heard that you only need to hook up the cooling lines if u are boosting more then 10 psi.

but then again some people say hook them up for reliability.

I say hook it up anyway because a cool turbo means cooler air and cooler air means less heat soak :D

I heard the life span is longer if the water lines are hooked up. But, no you dont have to hook them up. If you have you TB bypassed you can you those lines from their, thats prob the easiest way to hook them up.

You don't have to, but it will add many miles between rebuilds. Also, you don't have to idle the car after running hard before shutting down. No turbo-timer needed if you have the coolant lines hooked up.
