I was driving in my bosses car today and noticed he didn't have a tach, it's a '98 I belive, base model no options but shouldn't you still have a tach, I find it difficult to see how you can shift without one?
my 99 doesn't have a tach but i listen to the engine or if my music is blareing i look how fast im going to know when to shift 0-20 1st 20-40 2nd 4-6 3rd 60-80 4th and up..if i want i can shift at a higher speed per gear but thats just if im just trying to get somewhere really fast
i put in a apexi tach, damn what a peice of fine work, it has memory a LSD light up and all sorts of kewl ****........0-40 in 1st 40-65 2nd, 65-853rd. 85-1054th. 105-1205th.......for now anyways *Turbos a commin baby*!
Ya that is pretty goofy, i was looking in a manual sometime with the options and saw that some didnt have tachs, but i got a factory one that is just fine, but how much does one of those APEXi tachs cost?
I have a 2001 elantra it has a tach in it. One I drive down the road and I dont look at the tach or the speedo and can have a semi right next to me and my stereo pumping, and I can shift with precission just by the minute differences in vibration. What I would like to see even if it meant taking the tach out is a oil press gauge, amp gauge. I was used to driving a 93 grand prix that had a full instrument panel, i was disapointed to find that you cant even get that as an option, with the most being a gas gauge, and water temp. I know there good cars but Im a pilot too and it makes me uneasy to find that I dont even know if the engine is holding oil press (i dont like dummy lights to let me know when its too late) and I would like to know if the alt is over or under charging especially when I get my stereo system in there. (again not a dummy light.
