Hey man welcome to the site, I noticed you had a turboed EX civic, How much boost you puttin out in that turbo? and what kit did you get? Im putting a turbo in my elantra, and any pointers right now would be a great deal. I heard those, once turboed, are pretty damn quick, my friend has a EX vtec with about the same mods as I do, and I beat him probably by a car length, hes a cool guy hes getting a turbo in his too, Do you have any suggestions? Thanks man.

It's a GReddy/Mitsu TD04H-15G turbo running at about 10psi at the track. As for pointers, I'll tell you this much, do it right the first time. No shortcuts, save your $$ and do it once. Belive me, it get's VERY tempting to turn it up on the streets after the first few times you pull, so better to be ready than to risk blowing somehing up and regreting it later. I know nothing of Hyundai internals, but on my Civic, 13-14psi with a standalone is about the limit. I'm currently @ 10psi with RC 440cc injectors, VAFC trim and a BBK/Walbro 255lph fuel pump w/ a stock ignition. This summer i'm hoping to go with a full build (Eagle rods, JE 9.0:1 pistons, sleeve job, balanced crank, head work etc..) and a standalone (Hondata or AEM EMS) so I'll be 100% boost ready, as of now these "band-aid" setups are a little annoying but, it get's the job done. Let me know if you have any more Q's..

Hey thanks alot for the information dude, I'll be running a TD04 about 8-10 psi on stock internals, But like you I have the same plans but Im shooting for a higher compression so I don't have to worry about boosting the car to hell and back, I wanna rebuild my motor as well, Cams, JE pistons, Valves and etc. Thanks for your help man, Did you install your turbo yourself and if not how much did you pay for installation. Thanks man.

Actually I had a place here in Miami install the turbo for me. I had intended to it myself, but after 2 weeks of searching for the correct tap, then an aluminuim welder, I became impaitent and said screw it.. took it to BYP in N. Miami and had them set it up for me. I just got my engine build quote too. Talked to the main brain at SFP (Frank) yesterday about my future build this summer, here what I was quoted at:

$650 for a sleeving of the block, open water-jacket type and square decking.

$450 for a block build incl. JE pistons, Eagle rods, ARP bolts/studs, rings, balancing the crank, new bearings/seals etc..

$1300 for a complete head job incl. total port and polish of the combustion chamber, redoing the pockets, 5-angle valve job, new stem seals, Crower valve springs, Crower titanium retainers, port matching the intake mani.

So roughly $2400 for a compleltey built D16 long block ready for high boost. I'm also gonna be getting either a Honda 2b or AEM EMS to go with it all, interesting though, the AEM he quoted at some $2,000!! I didn't know they came with a Lambada meter though, so I guess it is worth it in the end.

So hopefully by this summer, 12 second SOHC

thats cool as **** you kept the d16, but what made you keep the sohc rather than upgrading to a dohc engine? maybe an integra ls motor?

Why be like everybody else? It's hard enough to make a Civic stand out these days so....

I also get a kick out of seeing the reaction on DOHC VTEC peoples faces when they realize they just got their asses handed to them by a SOHC
