Shark racing just put up new headers. They now have race headers. I'm not real sure what the diff. is that would make me want to pay an extra $300. If anyone can help me out? Random must know.

Well the race headers are not new at sharkracing, they have them now for more cars, like the kia's, sonatas, elantras. They are 4-1 mandrel bent headers with one hole for your O2 sensor. They also sell the 4-2-1 header which gives you a more even powerband throughout your acceleration. I have the 4-1 on my sohc accent and I can feel the difference just about everywhere in my acceleration, its a little noisy but with a good muffler you can fix that. If your looking for performance in the higher ranges then 4-1 is the way to go, if you want to get performance throughout get the 4-2-1.

But what is the real difference between the 4-1 race headers and the regular aftermarket 4-1 headers? Both are on their website.
Off the topic, I am in NH too.

The 4-1 headers and 4-1 race headers are the same, don't know why sam put em up on the site like that. There is no difference between the 4-1 "Race Headers" and the 4-1 headers. Both are made by the same manufacturer, its like getting the "racing carbon fiber spoiler" or the "carbon fiber spoiler" its just the name. Don't worry you will get a awesome product.
Off topic, I live in somersworth, nh near portsmouth, NH, there is a bunch of us going down to pennsylvania on the 29th for a hyundaituner.com meet, there is gonna be a huge turnout, you should go down with us if you can. Check my site for more details.

There IS a difference between the 2 headers. The "Racing" style has longer primaries. It terminates about 6" to 8" farther back than the standard 4-2-1 header.

I thought that was what I had said, in the previous postings. There is a difference, one is 4-2-1 the other is 4-1. Where on sharkracing does it say the 4-1 headers come in different lengths? Sorry to mis-inform.
PEACE!

Yes, there are 3 different headers for the beta.

The "race" 4-2-1 headers are the longer ones. The "race" headers also come with a o2 sensor hole, whereas the "normal" headers do not.

Then there is the "Normal" 4-1 and "Normal" 4-2-1 headers.

Why do the racing headers have a hole for the 02 sensor. And the normal ones do not??? Seems kind of odd if you ask me. So if you get the normal ones you have to drive a hole in them or something to place the 02 sensor or what??

For the other headers, you have to have an exahust shop weld in a "bung" for the o2 sensor. Why they are that way...I dunno. Maybe Korean Spec Cars only have 1 cat and 1 o2 sensor, and they are farther down the exhaust pipe? I dunno.

I was close, but not quite 100% correct.

The "normal" headers do not have the o2 hole because they assume you are keeping the cat and o2 hole which are farther down the Exhaust system in korea.

The "Race" headders have an o2 hole in them, because they are assuming you are removing the section with the cat, thus they provide a o2 hole, and are for "racing".<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
