my freind runs his auto down in 2.. says it holds gears out longer and if the race goes on long her just "shifts" it up to D. Power brakeing also helps.

i think that to clarify what you mean by "power braking" we should say to load up the torque converter...meaning...hold down the brak and gas at the same time at @ 2000rpm to launch...

well...different units will have differences...you may not get the best launch at 2k...you need to find out what your car does best on your own...for me tho i get a good jump at 2k...it puts those vtec boys playin catch-up...

Wow, that's the exact same car I used to have. I loved that car, I miss it...I'm going to buy another 240, but stick this time.

i have a 98 accent with auto, i use low one and two often, even when im not racing, to slow down and stuff, but when i race with it in drive, it shifts and like 5800 rpms and my redline is 6000, but when i use one and two, i can at least hold it down to 6100,this is wut my car sounds like when i do that, wwwwwweeeeeeeeeee, then when i hit like 6100 it goes, wwwwwwwweeeeebonk, then shift into second, and the same, i think its tight for some gay reason. i hear that bonk type sound cause i have a 3a racing high performance muffler, yea its tight.

i agree with Lantra on the 1-2-D shifting...thats how i do it and i have only lost 2 races....as for the hesitation before it shifts if you let off the gas just before you shift it makes the hesitation less...and you really lose nothing as far as speed because the shift is pretty quick...if your on the freeway and your racing i have found it the best to punch it and then let off the overdrive....you should shoot out a bit...but be careful cuz the car will redline easily and its not safe for the car to sit there for too long...
