New pics for the sale, check the group buy section
I've had a few folks involved in this for a while now. I started speaking with Vertical Doors Inc. almost 2 years ago now. And after a few dedicated folks got involved, we finally got the ball rolling. Soon they had the part numbers and prepared to prototype the kit. Once the kit was on and in perfect functionality, they ordered the metal brackets pictured below, and now the kits should be shipping out on demand! I already have about 6 orders, and with a group buy we could prove even more that the RD platform still has some good in it!
^^^ Actually yes:
JT has S H I T T Y schocks. You can wait for a comment by one owner on this forum.
VDI are the best when it comes to that, plus, it's not a modified universal.
It was developed speciffically for the tib, after enough people joined a group buy on RDtiburon.com, then test fitted the prototype for a while on Blacktibs' tib....
Pivot might look the ssame, but the shock is the real deal.
As an owner of a kit from a company that knows **** about shocks, i can say that it's a good enough reason to choose VDI.
I bought a vert kit for my 01 Eclipse from ground dynamics that didn't fit at all. When I complained, they sent a whole new kit from verticaldoors.com. I don't know how these two companies are related but anyways, I'm gonna switch the kits on the Eclipse and try to fit the original kit on my 01 Tib. I believe they just tried to pawn off a universal kit to me at first. I'll see if that fits and let you guys know, I'm just a little concerned about the fitment with my shark-3 fenders. I'll post again after the swap which should be next Thursday or Friday.
LOL, oh yeah. And your shark fenders wont fit. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take pics of whatever you do. Because I'm making the Shark 4 Fenders in fiberglass and carbon fiber, and they will work NO MODS with the VerticalDoors.com kits.
I am very sure your fenders will hit the door as it comes away from the car. It has to. The way the door opens now is not on a stationary hinge, that hinge its on comes open outward meaning... right into to top of your WB flare.
I just want to know what will happen, cause my fenders are the cure to whatever cancer this gives you, lol. And my door kits. All of which will be available via the HP.com store, Yay YaaaaaY[/ice cube voice]

If by modding you mean cutting or any hard work, no. But think about it, the hinge as pictured in the Group Buy section now, is not sitting 1 inch off the car. It comes out a good bit, and the part of the hinge that is attached to your door has to move in, out, up and down somehow right? So the process is called "Rolling" your fenders. You can take a pair of tin snips, or even just a hack saw, and make two little slits at the top and at the bottom in the liner portion of your fenders. Then you can just take a bat or some other cylinder shaped object to roll back and forth on the inner liner part. What that does is bend the liner in without any sharp edges.
Personally, I think since you'll be seeing it so much, its a much cleaner job to just cut along the line of the fender when they're off the car anyway. You have no way to see that its been trimmed when the door is closed, but otherwise that liner is directly in the way of the hinge. This goes for just about every car out there with aftermarket vertical doors.
Now the FlyRyde fenders ALL fit the VDI kit with NO mods at all. That goes for OEM, Vented, Widebody, whatever, it'll fit! Just bolt em up, they sit flush and perfect like stock, and the vertical door hinge passes right along with no hold ups. Plus you get a nice finish versus sharp cut metal. Thats just my lil plug sorry
Coincidentally the kit I got from GD is a VDI kit (I mentioned earlier) and it fit great! Yes the shocks are the best I've seen too. It took me about 3 hours from the time I stepped foot in my garage to finish the install. The generic kit Ground Dynamics first sent me took 10 hours to install and adjust and adjust and adjust. VDI is the best, bad news is once I took off the uni kit from GD and measured my bolt pattern, (plus stressed over my fenders) I decided it was not a good idea to mess with this crappy kit. So just a warning, if anyone here goes on 3G.com don't buy the vert door kit for sale buy speedracer!
Quick note, if the flyryde fenders will bolt right up and work with the vert kit, how are you going to provide additional support inside? W/o the inner lip that Cf or fiberglass would be pretty fragile. Someone leaning against your car while your in Mc D's urinating could crack it without a brace. I'm sure you've thought of that already, but I'm interested.
Dude, if ANYBODY, ever leaned up against my car, especially the front, I'd first take them aside and expain why it was sooo important that they just stand there while I wind up as far as I can and give them the SLAP of a lifetime. Then I'd ask them to do the same to me for being so dumb as to have friends that want to use my show car for a damn bench. lol.
Really though, the CF, that stuff is very strong, but it can flex. The Fiberglass is another story. I guess if we have people who are having there fenders cracked from leaning on them, they'll have to buy more and NOT lean on them. As for holding up in hard driving conditions, they're solid. But anyone with a vdc should have rolled/cut fenders anyway, so this just eliminates the hassle. Plus I dont know what it is, but seeing my tires through the fender with the door up, just looks crazy. I couldn't be happier with it.
I used to be in the Army, and one day I left the barracks to go to my car and when I got there, some hoochie mamma was sitting on my fender/hood, feet totally off the ground. I went crazy, but thinking back now, if I had the fiberglass fenders on then, they definately would've been ruined.
Don't misunderstand me, nobody will ever lean on my car while I'm around. But you don't know if someone will when your not.
Point being, I think you would be able to add a support lip similar to the oem, but from the base of the rear side of the wheel well straight up the inside of the fender to meet the frame. I think there should be enough room for about an inch wide support which might save your fenders from unforseen hoochie mamma incidents.
I hate fat hoochie mommas, especially when they sit on my car.
