it seems that if you're gonna turbo the tib and it has an automatic trannie, you should do something to strengthen the trannie as well...does anyone have any experience with this kind of work, or knowledge?

i saw in this months Turbo that they did it with the auto IS300's so i know it can and should be done, i'm just curious as to what it takes...

Do a LevelTen upgrade, that's just one of the things you should do.
I don't remember the site's address cause am at work but if no one posts it before I do...I'll do it later tonight.

he is gonna have all the gears either chilled hardened, or have them made out of a material that i forgot the name (titanium?), and is gonna replace anything that is needed. he knows someone that has a machine shop/tranny shop...the guy does the chill hardening at his place!

Hmm... interesting.

A titanium tranny...I've never actually heard of anyone doing this, but it sounds like a sweet idea.

Nothing stronger than titanium, that's for sure.

I just recently posted a similiar question on TEAMSR. The general idea is that the level ten upgrade for the tourque converter. Other recomondations include an auto tranny cooler, and to upgrade the fluid. As far as renforcing I would suggest getting custom urathane bushings for all motor and tranny mounts. Hope that helps if anyone can think of anything else please let us know.

anyone know any websites where i could learn more about said upgrades? and any idea of cost? i heard already it would be at least $5,000...

which is fine since i also heard that beefed up autos are strong, reliable, and last long.

well, i will keep all of you posted on the upgrade. we are taking it apart on saturday to install the new clutch (clutchnet 6 puck....hehe) well we are gonna take it apart and inspect all the gears, and we are gonna start planning the tranny reinforcement. then when we get the whole plan done, we will send out all the parts and get done what we need to do to make my tranny as strong as possible.

btw anyone one know of a company that sells difs for the tib tranny. I really dont want to have to weld the stock differential. let me know!

TurboChargedTibby, he has an auto. Your upgrades to your 5 speed won't help him. Mcntyre Hyundai in El Paso Texas has an upgrade shift kit. They will only install it themselves. The Level Ten tourque converter is about the $500 range plus intsall labor. Level 10 is in NJ. Use the search function to help you find the post. The other things that I mentioned are generic.
