Yes, If you remove the AC, you will free up HP that it took to drive the AC compressor. Even if the AC is not on, it robs HP just to spin the pulley. Ditto for Power steering. Thene there is that pesky altranator. You can remove that sucker and just replace your battery every 50 Miles. That should gain you 5 HP.

yep, i kno what underdrive pulleys are, but i didn't think that shark raing had theirs out yet and i haven't seen any other ones yet. Ive got a 98 accent gsi 1.5 sohc btw.

...is that some sarcasm i suspect about the alternator? <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> i wouldn't wanna change the battery that often.

however, i would like to know how to undo all this stuff, especially if i had a planned trip to the local raceway or somethin. at that time every little bit helps. could i figure it out by lookin at pics on hyundaiusaparts.com and the hyundai webtech site? ..prolly but i haven't looked yet

My boss at work told me this. I don't know how well it would work but this is what he said to do. He said to run a toggle switch to the alternator so that when you get ready to race. You flip the switch and let alternator free spin. And when you get done flip the switch back to get the alternator running again. He said it would give you much extra power but he said it would help if you were racing a car with similar mods and hp as you. As anyone else ever heard of someone doing this.

hmm alternator is conected to a belt obvously if the belt is still spinning on the pully its still a power loss
