How would you remove the governer for the gen1 tibs... I have a manual, 97 fx... cuz I was racing an acura, and catching slowly, but my car freggin bogged out at 120-125, and the fawker shot ahead of me... So I'd like to know how to get rid of that, cuz my car still had some life to it... LOTS OF LIFE, THAT ACURA WAS FN MINE!

We already talked about this. Removing your govenor might be too much for your stock internals, I removed mine. But I don't push it all the way often, I would of beatten your silly acura for you though no problem.

Im sure he is aware of the fact that if you remove it, it will hurt your internals at higher speeds. But how do you do it is the question. not if itll hurt or not

Actually mach5 it was rice krispies. Perhaps I did get lucky or something. But it's no joke, it wasn't 140 though it was more like 138, and it was on a good stretch of interstate. 120 was pretty easy, 125 not bad either, but after that it took a little while. Guess I don't have a governor huh.

I had my speedometer up to the 140mph mark one time while racing a newer eclipse gt, i got to 125 relatively fast and saw that i was totally ahead of him, i figured the eclipse must be governed around 110mph because thats when i lost him completely, however due to curiosity i figured i would would see just how fast i could go, it took me a minute or so, and the little bit of downhill probally didnt hurt, but yes, i got the Tib to 140mph. I drive a 2001 5-speed with only a few mods (I/E, safc). I wouldnt recommend going out and trying this but im curious if tiburons are governed and if so,if it is model/year specific. Anybody else who has info on this please post

138 mph, thats what the speedo read, and yeah it most likely said that, but it didn't mean the car actually got that fast. Red got up to around 135 mph and I juiced to 132 mph, both confirmed. The gearing on the 2001 tib will let you red line around 139-145 mph depending but with after market rims and speedo inaccuracy you were most likely around 130 mph with IE if your car didn't have a limiter.

when i got to that speed i had the factory rims and tires on the car, so there shouldn't have been any speedo inaccuracy. Perhaps not all tiburons are created equally.
