I have a 2001 Elantra. How the hell do I get the stereo out of the dash?

Two screws on the underside top part of the dash (above the gauges)
Two screws behind the ash tray.

Start pulling <img src=/images/forums/snitz/laugh.gif width=15 height=31 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>
Pull from the bottom right, by the ashtray first, then work your way around, up and to the left towards the door.
Comes out pretty easily though,...
Just becareful

OH yeah, Welcome to the board!<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Thanks for the quick reply.

Actually, I removed those 4 screws and tried your method before I posted, but the dash didn't seem to want to budge. I was hoping there was an easier way I was missing. Guess not.

I'll try again.

try www.hmaservice.com , also I have for the 99/00 on my site but the dash has changed but my guess is the heater spring or a screw under the ash tray.

Success! The trick is to pull to the point that you think you're going to break it.

I'm trying to fit my LCD into my dash where the head unit and coin holder used to be, which is going to take some slight modifications. Hope I don't **** it up too badly.

How are you gonna do CF?
Is there a complete dash replacement?
<img src=/images/forums/snitz/oogle.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Or are you talking about the sticky stuff from dashkit.com?

There are a few companies that will wrap your stock parts with real CF. The only downside is that unless you have a second vehicle, you end up driving around without a dashboard for a couple of weeks. I'm working on getting the name. I'll post it when I have it.

actually, there really *is* a straight CF replacement dash. I have seen pictures of a grand total of TWO, ever, in the past couple of years on fxtreme. One was hanging on a wall in a shop in Korea, and one was in the car of one of the members, who won it from the defunct old-school t-h-c when it still was cool.

Good luck finding or importing one, but they *do* exist...<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

Ok, Here's they're website: http://www.socalimages.com/
they'll wrap anything in carbon fiber. They charge by the square inch.

Costs about $20.00 to do the radio surround of most vehicles, if that gives you an idea.
