I am going to sell my tib so that I can buy an '03 GT. I have:

1999 Tiburon FX which features:
stock 15" aluminum wheels
power everything
no sunroof
alarm
pioneer 45 x 6 stereo with flip/removable face
pyramid 600 watt amp
15" sub
CAI
Cams
$600 z-rated tires (less than 7 months old)
painted white dash/driver's door panel
super bright interior bulbs
blue neon lights in dash, rear window
dark tinted windows
parts painted in engine bay
32000 miles

Original Sticker Price: $15,900 plus taxes plus over $2000 invested

with all this, do you guys think that asking $12000 but really just wanting $11000 is a reasonble request. Keep in mind, many of features are things which the typical ricer would really enjoy (neons, fuzzy seat covers, CAI, Cams).

I am asking because I need to make a couple thousand over what I owe so that I can make a nice down payment on my GT. The dealer told me they would only give me 8 or 9000. That is barely more than I owe. My feeling is that with all the mods and an original value of well over $18000 dollars, there is no reason that I should accept less than $11000, especially with barely 30000 mi.

Let me know what you guys think.

that sounds like a reasonable price, they sell regular ones with nothing new in them for about 9,000.

11K is about what you would expect to get retail. 13 is a little much. You have to remember; initial value and invested monies have virtually no effect on actual resale value. A) if you're upgrading trim levels b) if the car is a collector's item okay but it's going to go up in book value. Stuff like neons, and cams, dont' mean a thing to 99% of the population. So ifyou can find a fellow car enthusiast to sell it to good luck but otherwise strip it, sell the aftermarket parts, and sell the car as bone stock as possible. Youll get the most return on it that way.

Sorry but with what you have added you can pretty much take book value and add $0.

Mods are usually worth nothing to the resale of the car and you realy don't have much. Most of the stuff you listed came stock. Although you have low miles on your car and that is probably why the dealer is offering you so much.

I am not being mean just realistic. Although you never know, there is a sucker born every minute. Ask a little bit over what you want and see who bites.

I do think that this sounds a bit high, however, I am really basing my price on the fact that there are a lot of dumb-A$$ ricers out there that hear CAI and Cams and they begin to cream themselves. The thing you've got to remember is that 99% of the people in the population is fawkin idiots . He11, my roomate just sold his 1991 celica with 90000 miles for $7500. If he can pull that off, sh!t, anything's possible.

-mental note- Autobot wants to give me $15000 for "The Timuron." sweet.

Sh!t I was thinking about $20,000 but since you will take $15,000 then I will say sold. Just ship the car to me with the title already signed over and the check will be in the mail.

$15002. Do I hear $15050? $15100? Going once... Going twice...

No, the celica was definitely not turbo. I know this because I helped him work on it all the time. Also, I could kick his ars like it was a - dare I say - an SI.

I'll be putting the car on E-bay by Tuesday. You guys should check it out, mainly because I never did get time to post any pics on this forum or FXtreme. You should at least see it once before I get rid of it. The Timuron is definitely a trade mark in good old N.KY/Cincy. Anytime I describe my car to someone, it's like "Oh, I've seen your car. You always take off like a mother fvcker at stop lights and I can never keep up." Yep, that's me. I'm the only white Tib with a front end mask (bra) that I have seen in all of Cincinnati.
