I have been told that 17's are good because they are not so big as to rob power which although elantra's do have they do not have THAT much of.
That would explain why you see 18s and 20s on Jaj xjr/xkrs and the like and not toyota corolla's.
i'm about to go for 205/40/r17 with 17x7 tantrums/chrome bsa 239's/maxxim pursuit.
I was told by the folks at whalentire.com that the elantra GT and GLS cannot have wheels with "multi-drilled bolt patterns on them" because of teh fact that the elantra's have captive rotors.
What are captive rotors and what makes them not able to fit dual bolt patterned wheels on them?
anyone ever deal with whalentire.com and autoglitz .com?
thanks in advance
any suggestions on wheels for a cobalt blue gt?
I think you go up to 17s on your '99 Elantra. The 2001's seems to have bigger wheel wells than previous models... that's probably why jem can fit his 19s on it.
I also have 17x7 Tantrum with 205/40/R17 Yoko tires on my '98 Elantra. Check out my car at the Member's Picture Gallery here:
acid burn... do you have a drop on your car? I need your opinion Chrome BSA 239's or not ? I want tantrum style and tantrums are not made in chrome. do motegi MR7's fit my blue 2001 gt? I think chrome would look nice...you? better than silver?
I have Intrax 1.75" drop. Personally... I'm not a chrome fan but silver will certainly look SWEET with your Cobalt Blue GT.
Ronnie San answered your query about your Motegi MR7's and if the GTs don't have captive rotors... you'll have a better range of selection out there than we do.
ahh thank you all..... I just purchased a set of Maxxim Def-con6 (silver). 17inch wheels on falken 205/45/zr17's. Installing on saturday hopefully... switching my rims(which to me look like 15 inch konig flight's) to my parents 2002 Midnight grey GLS (which already has my CD player). New pics coming when I get them rims done:
And I love it when stupid a** Civic's come pull up to me on the road and think they can pick a fight with me even though I am stock and they have their cannon size mufflers and all... when the light turns green they start dissapearing in my rearview.... (thats prob why my gas mileage is around 17MPG)
to think they paid at least 3-4k more for thir EX model, while I got my GT and still had wads of cash to spare to modify my ride

Who has 17's and a drop on their ride and how different is it, Which set of springs did you use. (I would like to wait for coilovers or save for air ride because of the curb factor that keeps returning to my mind whenever I pull too far into a parking space I hear concrete grinding on my precious front underbody)
yep thats them..... you like.....? I was also interested in the Rumor style and approach style:
