Topic says it all.... I have a head unit pumping 25rms and 50 peak watt power to my speakers... I have aftermarket 6x9s, but not door speakers.. I was wondering... what is the max wattage for the door speakers, and if its less then what my head unit is pumping... will my speakers go bye-bye shortly?? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0><img src=/images/forums/snitz/approve.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

dude what kind of deck are you running? reason i ask is because the power ratings in head units vary from deck 2 deck. also most decks kit out about 15-to 20 watts contiuously. as for overpowering your spkrs. you can not blow a spkr by over powering them. let me explain. continously hitting your spkrs with 100 watts will not blow them watch the peaks and you'll be fine. as far as distortion well that's what happens when you use paper cones . upgrade the amp for a cleaner signal use 4aug power cables and something like 50 continuous @ 4 Ohms with a high dampning factor and you'll be straight. or do what i'm doing and gut the entire system and start from scratch<img src=/images/forums/snitz/thumbup.gif width=25 height=18 border=0>

all the Specs:

Blaupunkt performance and MP3 convenience — it's a surefire combination! The San Jose CD receiver plays MP3 or Windows Media Audio (WMA) files stored on a CD-R or CD-RW. It's easy to find your favorite tunes quickly — just use the San Jose's convenient jog dial to access the file/folder search function. The blue and white display scrolls MP3 text (ID3 tags) and CD Text (player and changer discs) information.

The San Jose will also play your prerecorded CDs, and its built-in amplifier has the juice (25 watts RMS/50 peak x 4) to make all your tunes sound great. X-Bass offers four levels of bass enhancement, while source tone memory allows you to store separate bass and treble settings for AM, FM, and CD. Three sets of preamp outputs and CD changer controls open up the options for expanding your system. Blaupunkt includes a wireless remote for your safety and convenience.

Decks really never put out the pover like they say. Look at Eclipse they don't lie. It's comeing lik 8rms and 15peak. That is about avg for all decks. No you can't blow a speaker by over powering them. You'll just smoke the voice coil. I know cause i hooked up 200watts to a 45peak 6.5. The voice coil smoked and froze. But if you like the sound coming out of the deck then great I think it sounds like Shi^. But everyone knows better.
