I really need to change my oil I have been so busy since school started and didnt notice how many miles i put on it. I am bout 2000 miles overdue cause I drive 100 miles everyday mon-fri, so I managed to rack up the miles and forgot to change the oil. hehe oops <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. Now shes tickin like hell.

I wouldn't worry if 2000 over means 5000. I've been changing mine every 6000 miles with normal driving. Reason is a mechanic friend of mine does the same and says the oil doesn't wear out that fast under normal driving conditions. Next oil change I'm going to do an engine flush and switch to Amsoil, which is a yearly oil change.

2000 miles overdue is nothing. A guy I work with changes his oil every 5000 miles because he drives a lot. He says if he changed his oil every 3000 miles, he would be changing his oil every 3 weeks. lol. But cars nowadays can handle well over 3000 miles. I still like to change mine every 3-4000 miles. But it says you can go 7,500 without an oil change. If worse comes to worse, bring it in and get changed rather then doing it yourself. We won't think of you as "less of a man" if you have someone change it for you. Better now then engine damage.

Amsoil? Never heard of that. Yearly oil change...So lets say I put 50,000 miles a year on my car...the oil can't possible be good for all that time, can it? I use Quaker State or Castrol regular. I don't put more expensive synthetic stuff in. Seems like a waste. Been doin it like this for years. Never given me trouble. But then again...oil is oil.

Amsoil claims they are the first company to ever manufacture synthetic oil. The yearly thing is for normal conditions on a non-turbo engine. I think it's 25,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. You change the filter every 6 months though. Alot of people have sworn by it and after seeing some of the info on Mobil 1(not worth it), I switched.

Run an oil treatment though it with you next oil change.
And change the damn oil. It only takes 15min and about $15 at any lube place.

Change the filter every 6 months? That can't work because then you might as well change the oil too when half of it leaks out as you take the old filter off and put the new one on. lol
