You are probably coming off the clutch too soon!! If it is not that take it to the dealer and have them take a look at it. Depending on the amount of miles you got it might be 2nd is going bad.

Go to the dealer or mechanic of your choice and have him check the following:

1) Its an older car. Depending if its the original clutch on the car still, it may need to be adjusted or replaced if its grinding with the clutch engaged all the way. The clutch is not disengaging the flywheel, which its suppose to do for the gear.
2) Could be a problem with second gear. Have him check the gear. This would be more likely it if all other gears work.

Its one of those 2 things that I mentioned. Or your shifter might need some attention. As the car ages, its not as precise as it use to be.

Ever try thinking about the sycnhro between first and second? Maybe its going. I used to have a 1988 Jeep Wrangler with the same problem(except it grinded through all gears..bad synchros). Good luck with your car!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

ok guys heres the deal with the second gear. our clutchs are unbreakable pretty much. Second gear is a little more sensivtive so your gunna have to push harder down the on petal. it sometimes happenes to me aswell. then when you go into the rest of your gears you dont have to press down has hard . weird aint it?

Silly Ricer, Hondas are for kids!
