What would the difference be if i were to just cut the stock shifter or if I bought a short shifter? And if i were to just umm....trim the stock shifter how far would i have to go with it? <img src=/images/forums/snitz/uhh.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>

Since you are in the US, you can get the HVE unit through Phantom Racing. I like mine, and have had it in the car for 3 years now. Depending on how quick you want it, HySpeed should have one available soon. It will be a new unit, not re-manufactured like the HVE one.

I agree, cutting the top off your stock shifter does little for reducing throw. Measure your throw (say 3rd to 4th), and the lever length from the top of the knob TO THE PIVOT. Draw it out on paper, and then draw the throw 1 or 2" lower. You will see that there won't be a huge benefit, and your lever will further AWAY from you. The HVE unit is designed so that 6'+ guys like me don't have to reach to get the shifter once it gets modified.
