Could you expound on the context of what your friend said? Was he talking about a shifter for racing such as a sequential shift tranny? Or was he talking about and autositck type for everyday driving?
And just so you know, neither is availible for our elantras.

I come from the land of V8 hotrods, and the 'slap shifter' is known as a rachet shifter. It's for autos only. In a drag race situations, you pull a lever, allowing you to drop down into low gear. As you accelerate, you 'slap' the tranny into the next gear, there is a gate to keep you from going into high gear, neutral, reverse. Pretty neato, but try parellel parking with one! I can't imagine one being available for Hyundai's.

He heee, I'm from that school of thought as well~ You guys ever seen the radical setup that the mid-1980's H/O Cutlass had? Hurst Lightning Rods", or the 3-separate-stick system for race shifting! NICE! A friend of mine has one...only comes in one or two colors, like that other American beaut, the Buick GN!
