For those who don't know, Wednesday the 29th, about 5-8 of us are getting together out a LACR in palmdale for some drag racing and hangin' out (5:30 pm drag start). No everyone is going to drag, but for those that want to come, it should be fun!

Yamaneko has also invited/challenged some of the "three-C" corolla club to come.

All Hyundai's are welcome.

Email me if you need/want more info.

I had so much fun. My best run was a 15.31. To give you an idea of how good a 15.31 is in palmdale...the fairly stock 5.0L and 4.6L mustangs were running 16. to 15.5
I only got beat once. A drag civic that came in on a trailer, he had 13" Mickey Thompsons wide slicks and a turbo (15 PSI). He pulled a 15.18 to my 15.31 The part that just makes me mad, is that his .2 was in the 60ft time. He beat my 60' time by .20, ..but i was slowly gaining on him. The trap speeds were 93 MPH for me and 88 MPH for him. given another 100' of track and I might have had him. (he later ripped off a 13.1, so maybe he was toying with me!)
From 6:00pm to 8:50 PM I got in 11 Runs. I wanted to stay later, but all the other tibby folks had left, except me and SpeedBlind. He was holding all of my stuff for me while I raced (thanks DUDE!)

Worst was a 16.0 (bogged horribly off the line), and by best was the 15.31.

My RT's sucked....bad! My BEST RT was a .702, my worst was a 1.3 Talk about asleept at the switch!

My 60' times sucked rocks as well, but I was at least consistent. My worst was a 2.760 on my first run, my best was a 2.427, with most about 2.6 or 2.5. I've got to get that wheel hop under control. If I rev it to high, it would just spin the front tires...to low, it would bog. if I slipped the cluch out...the tires would HOP like crazy through most of first and some of second.

The winds were a constant 10 MPH, with gusts to 30 or 40. Downwind from the race track was a LARGE motorcross track with about 50 Motorcross guys ripping it up. They kicked up so much dirt and sand you would not believe it. They actually have a guy whose sole job was moving this gas super powered blower up and down the starting section to blow the sand off the track. he would do it every 3 runs.

The inside of my car is now COVERED in sand. I have no idea how I am ever going to get it all out! My dash has a fine 1.8" layer of sand over it. Its in my leather seats, the carpet, the windows...all over the place.

It was a lot of fun, and I can say that I will NEVER go back to Palmadale again, unless I somehow know for a fact that it is not going to be windy. the wind was blowing at about a 45 degree angle Down track towards the starting point, slowing us down.

My next trip will be to Carlsbad in about 3 weeks. Who wants to come? I will be fun to play with 16BA2 *grin*

Kills.
2 Tiburons
1 Mitsubishi Diamante
3 Civics
2 Integras
2 Preludes

Losses
1 Full drag Turbocharged civic

In the "import street legal" class, no one beat my 15.31 time, but then again, per california laws...I'm not street legal either! Closest was a turbocharged MR2 with a 15.9. Hell most of the mustangs and Camaros there could not beat 15.31.

The did have some Full drag big block boys there. They truely humbled me...standung in the sidelines watching a mustang rip off a 9 second pass made me realize how slow 15.31 really is.

One of the more interesting drags was a BMW M5 vs a modified newer Z28 with a license plate that read "C5Killer" (corvette c5 I can assume). The Z28 did a 13.89 to the M5's 14.01

We did have one crash early in the day. A full drag mustang smashed into the wall about halfway down the track. No damage to the driver, he was okay.

I've got photos of everyone dragging, and of the wrecked stang. Look for them thursday night. I'm just too pooped to post.

There's more I've leaving out...but most of you are probably bored to tears already.

Best run for CAI equipped tibbies was 16.8. Two different tibbies pulled that last night.

Blktib managed to lower his time by .5 with a CAI vs his best 100% stock run.

I gotta take this back. Apparently there was a black Mitsubishi Starion that was doing mid/high 14's. I never got a chance to line up against him or see him run, but my friend rich who took all the photos saw him run a couple.

Right now. I have the Alpine Turbocharger kit with intercooler and 2.5" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. Boost is limited to 9 PSI, and the Head spacer was installed to lower compression to 9.3:1

I was running on 17" Konig Rated-Rs (damn heavy) 215.40 Yokahama Parada tires.

For the next drag meet we do, I hope to have lightweight wheels for the fronts at least. or I might install quality rubber on the stock 15" mags as those are lighter than the 17"s I have now.

I don't want to install drag tires and snap and axle/shatter my differential like onpol did, so I'm sticking with "real" tires and dealing with slip for now.

Sounds good. Although I think you can add more things to there to make ultimate Tibby! <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle><hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=1 id=quote>
