some downforce for the front would be nice...

Yea we all know a big wing will make your a$$ end stick, but what can we do for the front? Accents could definately use some extra higher speed stability (yea I drive fast, I don't need to hear it) I know it may take a few MPH off the top speed, but that doesn't matter anyway. I want that extra little bit to help me on the higher speed turns... What can we do?

A front lip, and a splitter+diffuser combo for starters. However, note that for turns where you have to slow down[ie. lift off the throttle or brake] downforce will drop at a rate square to the speed of the car.
I never had to use a 'front spoiler/diffuser' when doing autocross.. A car can only go so fast and turn..

Best mods for that:

Sticky Tires
Full True Coilovers
Strut bars (front and back)
Sway bars (front and back) might be over kill, but **** it.
Maybe a brushings kit.

How fast are you turning... and why? Too much fast and furious movies?

a front spoiler is not effective until high speeds are reached(faster than you go).. same for the rear spoiler. and you will feel no difference from getting a lip kit.

everything vamp mentioned will help: swaybars aren't really over kill.. as the stock bars are like paper-clips. and there would be no purpose for any wings while doing autocross as the MAX speed is rarely close to 110km/h. (long before wings become effective)
i looked at the pictures of his car.. and its not even lowered.. only rims and tires.. So yea, you might want to look into the mods I posted.. or be wrapped around a telephone pole.
thank you bh206, MechaniX_034 and accent0002 for your polite reply... thats all i needed to know, much appreciated!
you might also want to look into upgrading those brakes. Fade owns an accent :dead:
very true, i have some plans for the brakes... i just need time, i've barely had my car a year, and i'm not exactly on a caviar budget.

Is it advisable to just get the front sway bar? I've heard that with the rear bar it can cause the rear end to fishtail out more than usual. :c

That is why i said it might be over kill. Rob had to take his rear sway off because it was just too stiff for Auto-X.

That's what the jimundous fiberglass wings are for. ;)
vamp, i asked a simple, easy to answer question, all you had to say was "you don't need it. accents generally arent fast enough to have a purpose for downforce, or fast enough to even generate it with any parts available." that would have been much better than being an asshole... and you said you saw a pic of my car, wheres the rice?
i've never heard of anyone with an accent only getting the front sway bar. not sure how the handling would be.

on the contrary, i've heard of lots of people getting just the rear bar.

I have both bars waiting for me to put them on.
i'll put the rear one back to stock and see how she feels. when i got the swaybars i installed the rear one first and drove around for a few weeks without changing the front one. i didn't like it much.

something like this from wrc lip kit

I'm thinking of putting this kit on my Accent (with some MAJOR fiberglass work so it's not as ricy, and the vents on the skirts & sides will be functional for brake cooling) with the addition of CF diffusers. But this is all secondary to the Suspension. You'll notice more of a difference from the suspension, but the added downforce is nice depending on how/where you race. I've never been into autoX nor do I plan on getting into it. (kinda feels like racing sluggish, poor handling go-karts to me) I run touges in my S13 and Accent, and both builds are planned with that in mind. Higher speeds and uneven terrain make need for more downforce. You've just got to build your car according to your needs. I just hope you realize the difference between the downforce you get from a wing and the downforce you'll get from a front diffuser, because the two are completely different, and therefore both must be tuned different. Just food for thought... but just remember... it's your car. Do what you want. (just don't expect respect if you do what others think is rice... but you don't mod your car for the respect of others, now do you? ;) )

good point Z, very well said also. i came from a long line of american 4x4s, suv and pickups, and an isuzu rodeo, so no need to worry about rice on my accent. i prefer products that work, unlike skyline GTR badges on something not.

I wasnt saying they arnt fast enough but, you still havnt answered my question. How fast are you going and WHY? Because if your are going down the freeway.. and trying to turn on an offramp..This is why I called you a ricer. You're asking about down force when you havnt even lowered your car yet or any of the other needed mods.

What kind of tires do you have on your rims? Or you have any other 'upgrades' besides rims? (that are performance orientated)?

I'm going to scan a SportCompactCar magazine issuse and post it about Aerodynamics when I get a chance to get my g/f off my laptop that would help you better understand what you need to stick your car to the pavement.

I'm not an asshole.. assclown maybe.. but not an asshole.
