When I got my car a year ago I disconnected my Headers from my catilitic converter. I got ALOT of power out of it, it was also very loud. I just figure it something fun to do, I did it for awhile, I didnt even get a ticket for excessive noise.

Hehe, Take the two bolts off that connect your headers to your catilitic converter. Quite interesting.

What does everybody think about doing this? Could you bolt them back on afterwards?

Dude; your car has potential, don't screw with sh!t like that! Buy headers and exhaust. That'll be much more worth it. I promise.

just curious if that is breaking any noise laws cuz it's getting pretty boring where i live and i want to do it again but can't afford a ticket right now. harley's are that loud if not louder so i'm sure it'll be ok. when i did it before i was paranoid as hell everytime i saw a cop but never got pulled over. i know if they pull you over they can give you some sh!t for not having a cat but besides that i guess it's ok. anyways it's just fun to piss people off with a loud ass exhaust.

OK time for good idea bad idea. This is a bad idea. Don't you know you can burn your valves up doing that stupid $hit. And for what? To be a little louder. Fun? We'll see when you need your valves replaced.

I did it for like uh 1 week just to piss people off, that was a LONG ASS TIME AGO! Just so happenes I changed my intake cam a week ago, ...valves looked perfect it was a beautifull site....Also, I know ALOT of v8 applications who run with just a header pipe and nothing else, I also know 4 clynder turboed cars that run just the turbo with no piping after, how would this burn your valves! I know TONS of people that do this just to dick off.

wow that's about exactly what i was gonna say but i was too lazy to explain it all. anyways that guy sounds pissed. and like you said it's not like we drive everyday like that......hence the "fun" part! still want to know if it's proven to burn valves.

Lantra, I know what you are talking about. You see the same thing happened to me...Kinda! My flexi plate (on stock exhaust) broke off from the front exhaust (it had been leaking for a while) and my car was loud as hell. It did gain some tremendous torque coz every time I would mash my foot on the gas pedal my tires would start skipping like crazy. To cut the long story short I didn't want to fix the flexi plate coz I had ordered an aftermarket exh. manifold. I drove it like that for 2 months (Dec. to Feb.) and finally got tired of the noise and spent $70 bucks to put the damn flexi-plate on. It was kinda funny pulling next to those V8 trucks and revving my little Hyundai louder than their monster trucks and ......I'm still waiting for my extractors!
