Bet you never saw this race coming.
I was just coming home from Toronto and was dropping my friend off. Must have been 2:30 in the morning. We get to the exit and catch up to a car that was doing about the same speed we were doing, but looks like he slowed down sooner for the ramp then we did.
We turn onto the street going the same direction and I creep past him and he pulls even. We head down the street and notice the flashing hand (means its turning red) and slow down to a crawl almost for it the light to turn red.
We're sitting there and my friend looks over and sees the guy all hunched over ready to race looking all bad ass.
I also noticed something. The rims on his car. Now please please I need to know this!!!!!! Does the Premium come with 16" or 17" rims???? Just the plain 5 spoke star type deal but not silver or anything just dark, almost black??????? I am 95% sure that only the Type-S comes with these rims as well so thats why I am totally curious. I couldn't see the emblems cause of how high the back of the RSX is. My lights don't even shine that high on the trunk.
So back to the story. The light turns green and we both lay down some slight rubber. Half way through 1st for me I started immediately pulling away. Then the nitro was flicked. He slowly creeped up with me in nitro, then it came to the driver. He chirps the wheels as he pops it into second and by the end of the shift, I was back to my half car length. From there it went all downhill for him cause by the time my car shifted from second to third, I was about 3-4 car lengths ahead. I think he had to shift one or two more time as well.
My 4-speed transmission goes something like this to redline: 1st - 60 km/h, 2nd - 125 km/h, 3rd - 205 km/h, 4th - 205 km/h @ 3,500RPM.
Moral of the story. If Hyundai wants to make one hell of a sweet V6 Tiburon. Throw away the 4-speed shiftronic, get the 5-speed shiftronic in the XG350 and keep the gearing for a manual 5-speed. Driver error, and driver shift speed is no match for a split second shift, and proper shifting of gears everytime.
So well if the rim thing is correct, Sonata V6 was the first to beat up on a RSX Type-S?
