I don't believe the addition of iridium or platinum spark plugs on a basically stock engine will beneficially impact the engine's performance, whereas if the engine has been substantially modified, having platinum or iridium spark plugs probably would be beneficial to the engine's performance in terms of combustion and performance. It helps to also install ignition wires and an aftermarket ignition upon installing the plugs to enhance your vehicle's ignition. I myself put in some Magnecor wires and Denso Iridiums but I can say that there is not much difference. It does idle somewhat better, but I am looking forward to installing the MSD DIS-2 ignition in my '00 Tib. Then I will see whether or not the ignition makes a difference.
