ive been reading that people have had thier stock accent up to 120mph, now how in the hell did they get an accent up that fast, i think thier lying cause thier is no way that you can do that, ive only had mine upp to 100 and it seemed like it wouldnt go now farther, someone tell me if they are lying or wut mod they did to get it that fast. thanxs

I've had mine between 115-120mph. 100mph is no problem. BBTB, Cat back 2.25, magna flow muffler. When I had headers on got up to the same speed, didn't seem to make a difference.

Maybe because they have a diffrent engine than you? I have gotten my 1.6 DOHC 16v to 110 and it still had alot of power to spare.. ran out of freakin road. The only limiter i have ever hit was when i was dumb.. down shifted to far and tapped 7000rpm.. 500 above readline. It took all my power.. unsure if it is a ingnition kill or a feul takeoff.. Also if my 110 was on a 13inch rim.. if some one were to have say, 16 or 17 then they would be able to attain a higher topspeed with no engine mods(Assumeing the car can push throught the air.. witch it seems to have no problem doing.. drag coefficint of 0.32). I think i could pull somewere close.. atleast 115 to 117 a bigger rim could easily take 120 with the DOHC 1.6 dunno about the SOHC 1.5.

i hit baout 120 once and damn i had to slow down i felt as if the car was gonna fly off the road. but i think i could have gone a few more MPH, i just didnt want to fly. HEHE <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

In my old 95 4door, 1.5l, i pushed 110 coming back from snowboarding with 2 other people in the car. My only mods were a stock replacement K&N and a drilled airbox to allow more air to come in. It still wanted to pull, i could have probably hit 115, maybe 120.

i didn't event hink of that.. my 110 run i had another person and all my military gear.. i may be able to get 120 full unloaded... but i think ill be turning some serious rpms though.

i hit 124 and no im not lying. this is with an automatic too. it took a long ass time to get going that fast but i did do it. it seemed like it was hitting a speed limiter though at that speed. i still had room to go on the tach. but it wouldnt go faster.
maybe something is wrong with your accent.
oh i have a 1998 accent gsi 1.5l auto
intake, exhaust, port and polish. thats about it right now i took the zex out but this is without the zex anyways

i think the automatic has a different final gear ratio. maybe random or someone else will let me know because i did hit 124.

I believe you. With your mods it is possible also you. And not saying you didn't hit 124mph but also remember that Hyundai allows the speedo to off by up to 10%.

This means that it is possible that you were going anywhere from 112mph to 136 mph. Although I dout it was 136mph<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

yeah i doubt it was 136.. hahaha. im pretty sure i was almost goin 124 though.
at the time me and my friend in his 96 bmw 318ti were on i26 heading east and we just started going really fast we werent really racing but we ended up both seeing how fast we could go it was a long long stretch. he said his speedo hit 128 but he was hardly ahead of me. mine said 124-125. i thought the bmw was faster at top speeds?although he only has a 138hp 1.8L he was suprised i didnt lag behind. but thats how it happened
