"If that's not enough, coming this Fall, Hyundai Canada will bring the Accent SR exclusively to Canada. This package, based on the SR concept model shown in Chicago earlier this year, will feature a ground effects package with side skirts and fender flares, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels fitted with P215/45R17 high performance tires, chrome tipped exhaust and free-flowing air intake. Prices have not yet been announced but reporters were assured it would be under $20,000."

I cannot find anyhting to indicate what engine is in it. I am trying to get more details.

Everything I read about the concept hinted toward it being a beta II.
Here's a working link: http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/07accent_hatch.htm

That's a good article. The SR going to Canada only? If it's a body kit only I guess that will be as good of a place to import from as any. Sounds like an appearance package though. I sure hope they're wrong about the Canadian only part...and that it's not just an appearance package.

Anyone imported a car from Canada? I can't imagine it's that hard. I may have to get one for my wife's next car.
Getting a car from Canada is easy. you basicly just need a letter saying everything is DOT approved and the rest is pretty simple as far as I know.

Is that the pull type on the gear shifter too put it in a 5th gear???:ermm:

usually that "finger trigger" on the shifter is the reverse lockout.
it's nothing if it's just a 1.6 with a bodykit, rims, and I/E from factory. now if it's a beta...then we're talking.

all for under $20K... ?

I suppose that reasonable if it's a beta considering it'd basically be a lighter elantra/tiburon and a sleeper if tuned right.
... blame canada

(just got done watching south park)

Plus you gotta remember that's $20,000 Canadian.

Good morning,
Canada will be introducing a 2007 Accent SR this September.
The SR is going to be in essence an appearance package. The engine will remain the same. Final Specs. have not been released at this time.
Regards,
Hyundai Auto Canada

Subject: Accent SR

Comments: Hello,

As a Hyundai enthusiast I have been closely watching any news I have seen about the Accent SR concept. I was reading the article in Canadian Driver (http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/07accent_hatch.htm) which stated that the Accent SR will be coming to Canada in the fall as a Canadian-specific model. Is this true? Is the SR package going to be solely an appearance package? What will be different on the Accent SR than on the Accent GS Sport?

With the new competition the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris bring to the market Hyundai needs a model that will attract potential buyer's attention like the SR. I believe buyers would be more willing to spend their money on an Accent even if they won't spring for the SR just because the SR is available. I also plead that you make an Accent available with the Theta 2.0l or at the very least the Beta 2.0l engine. A mildly turbocharged Alpha 1.6l would be acceptable as well. I really think this would set the Accent apart from the growing field of competitors.

Thank you for your time,

Floyd

$20,000 canada is roughly about...... $18,022.73 us...:ermm:
it would be wise if hyundai added more power or a better engine to the accent,

an mc accent with all that weight overtaxing the poor anemic 1.6L would be a shame..and be laggin so far behind in the competition in term's of acceleration.

i think hyundai would be adding power if they're gonna add extra weight to it..
beside's, who want's an accent with factory 17's on heavy ass tire's going 0-60 in 14 seconds??

:mad::mad::mad:
if the accent SR is just a cosmetic upgrade..hyundai is just a ho-hum car manufacterer

Yeah? Is it?

You get taxed up the ass too. 15% of the value, so what, $3,000 more on a $20,000 car?
^^^^As of july 1st....its now only 14%......so you save $200.....lol....what a joke
God damn it!!!!! Well im glad I came back and read what everyone else posted. It's ashame that the SR will not have a 200hp turbo'd motor..... I think they are nut's to even ask around 18k for the car w/body kit.... I really wish they would just come out with the sr with say a different motor, just don't throw on some cosmetic stuff on it and charge a boat load more.....

Im gonna go test drive the SE this weekend regardless. If anything when the SR come's out, if they don't change body styles, I will get the ground effects from a dealer and paint em...
OMG, I just saw the pic's of the SR.... man oh man I wish I wish I wish!!!! Im game to go to Canada and get it actually. I would like a new car and this would really fill the void of missing out on the LC that was turbo'd down in Australia...
I'll see about getting some information from my dealership Sales Manager about this. Anyone interested in buying this car, could ask about a group buy. Would be purchased out of Edmonton, Alberta. email if your interested. [email protected]
