whats up guys, well i got my SR short shifter about a month ago, and installed half of it. my car was taken for about a month but im getting it back really soon so i figured id ask this now. for th SR shifter u have to cut the shifter plate in order for it to fit. now, is this worth it, or should i just go buy the B&M short shifter?? i assume it will void my warenty, so im wondering if i should do it?? well if any of you have one of the 2, let me know what u think of them. well thanks.

I haven't seen the B&M model... (where did you see it... link?) but I would assume (note assumption) that they would be the same because you're not modifying the shifter itself you are modifying the car to fit the shifter. Please tell me if I'm wrong so that I can buy this "B&M" model so I can cut out some of the work.. no pun intended.

There is no cutting at all involved with the B&M shifter. It takes about 10-20 minutes (depending on your mechanical abilities) to install, and you don't have to remove the base plate to do it.

The B&M can be ordered from RC Performance Products at 1-877-4RCFAST, and the price is $119.95 + shipping (and tax if you live in Ohio).

Black99Tibby,
I had the SR shifter, now I have the B&M. I liked the SR shifter, but I love the B&M. it feels so much more solid than the SR or the stock shifter does, and the throw is shorter than the SR too. It's unbelieveably short!

I doubt it.
You could offer it up for sale on this forum, or you could install it. The choice is yours. It's a good shifter, but after having it and the B&M, my choice is the B&M.

Hi, does the B&M short shifter work on the new 2003 tib?
does anyone have a website to purchase that short-shifter rather than a telephone number because I want to actually see a picture of it

there is a picture of the B&M shifter in this forum. Reid had posted it.

I finally got mine today. I have to pick it up at the post office and install it after work.

I honestly can't tell you about the 2003 Tib yet...we really need to see one before I can tell you if the 2001+ shifter will fit it, and I definitely cannot say if it fits the 6speed at this time (don't know how much different the shift mechanism inside the car is vs. the 5-spd)..

If you do install the SR shortie, use a Rotozip tool rather than a Dremel. I cut my baseplate in less than 2 minutes. Plus when I bolted the plate back in, and had to trim off a little extra, I took the guide off the Rotozip and trimmed it while bolted in. Can't beat that<img src=/images/forums/snitz/smile.gif width=15 height=15 border=0>
